I would wear headphones and then flip off the camera at the finish line. Listening to my favorite tunes while running is much more important than collecting a silly amount of money for running a race. If I had a dog, I would put it in the baby jogger and put headphones on it too just to pi55 everybody off a little more.

Horses race humans over 50 miles regularly and the humans win 9 times out of 10, and these arent even close to elite runners. My guess would be that a horse would struggle to run sub 2:20. Also, a dog running 16:15 is pretty impressive, i would try to get that cash

Just because it is unlikely to you does not mean it doesn't happen. The results tp the below link are in pdf (which is why I didn't direct link them), but this was much more then the OP's prize money, and was won in 16:07.

Do I have any recourse for claiming the 100 and 50 for the both of us?
For full disclosure he was not on a leash so there's no way they could claim "aiding a runner", secondly, they don't mention "person or people" in the consent form ... It only says "participant".

In the 100 mile horse race at the 2010 World Equestrian Games held in Kentucky the winning time was 10 hrs 55 min and 44 sec (and that included 3hrs and 20 min of mandatory vet holds). That’s a pace of 6:33 min/mile over the 100 miles (again including holds). I also won’t even get into the fact that the horse has to meet a low pulse criteria before the “hold time” starts so the riders have to control their pace during the ride. Just taking into account the actual running time of 7:35:44, that is 4:55 pace. That would equate to about a 2:08 marathon, a well-trained endurance horse like that (pure Arabians by the way) if “only” doing a 26.2 miler could go well below the human marathon WR.
