Any city that has a street named "Martin Luther King", is probably not a safe place to run.

Roland Park, Baltimore
Terrifying
I was there this morning and lived to tell the tale. Probably go back tomorrow, too.
Definitely the Everfree Forest.
Detroit and, to boot, Flint ranked 3 and 4 respectively, above Oakland in 2010 crime rankings.
The Red Light District, lots of times.
No doubt.
Who was it...Chris Rock...?

Yep, it was Chris Rock. Fast forward to 1:30, good stuff...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj1PtWnbmPoHampstead, London. White woman leaned out of her car window and shouted the N word at me.
Downtown Nairobi
The worst place i ever ran was Kho Phangan, Thailand. Actually it was lovely except the one night run i went on when i got chased by a pack of wild dogs.
Dude, South Norwalk!
I grew up in the vicinity, dad from Norwalk. Granted, it was no garden spot but I wouldn't even put it in a class with New Haven, much less the Detroits, Oaklands, etc.
You gave me a good laugh, though!
Yeah. I grew up there. My car once broke down and I had to run through Cass Corridor area to get home. Probably set some PRs along the way.

Ran a race in Compton in the early 90s. Someone had stolen the turnaround sign.
Many of my high school dual meets in Los Angeles were pretty sketchy. Kids got jumped while racing.
Agreed. I got jumped in the bathroom at Centinela Park (Ingelwood) just before an XC dual meet. The same gang did more damage to some of the runners during one of the races using a baseball bat to knock the leader unconscious.
West Philadelphia. Ran by the former site of the first MOVE House and someone sicced a Doberman on me yelling "Get Whitey." Sub-5 minute mile, even outrunning the Doberman somehow. Made it to the Zoo and never looked back.
Wilmington, DE. Tried to stay around the Sheraton I was staying at. Kept turning around to go back another way based on drug dealing/doing. Probably only did about 2 miles that day.
East Jerusalem, just outside of the Old City. Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't be a big deal, except I was running in an Orthodox neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, which is a big no-no (Shomer Shabbos rules). I should have known to be honest; I wouldn't do this sort of thing in the states, bit I felt like I really had to get a run in because of all the delicious but heavy food I was eating while I was there. I actually had a rocks thrown at me. I've done dumber things.
East St. Louis, hands down.
Same. East Jerusalem, just south of the Old City. Except the people throwing rocks at me were Arab.

I am smart enough to not ever run there, let alone drive anywhere close to it. I live in SO.CO. lol.
