Marchand making comeback?

If Racheal Marchand wins & collects prize money she is a PROFESSIONAL. She is also an international athlete to boot (Puerto Rico).

She is competing and collecting prize money DURING her doping ban. Doesn't matter if it is Popcorn Run or Diamond League....they are equal & the same.

Again, why didn't Racheal attend the Popcorn Run awards ceremony if everything is level and above board?

Region400, if she is there for the fun and social aspect of running local road races, then why does she behave the way she does? She doesn't make an effort to talk to anybody, she doesn't talk with the media, and she never sticks around for the awards. She should have just stayed home and ran by herself. Additionally, the local road runners know that she is a cheat, and they don't like her showing up for races. I can't imagine how some of the other top local females feel about getting beat by a drug cheat (e.i. Nagel). It's not right.

She needs to come up with a better PR move.

To answer your question maybe she had to go to work or a birthday party after the race. You know how many times I left a race before the awards when I knew that I had won my age division a lot of times. I know these road racers live for saturday mornings and winning cheap medals, but for some people thats not the reason the run the race. But I did see some results where she ran a race with her dog does it that make the dog a doper to?

I know for a fact that the popcorn panic doesn't pay out prize money very few if any in northwest indiana pay out. For the race that she won $250 at I don't know anything about. For your question why she missed the awards maybe she had a birthday party to go to or work were she had to leave right away. You know how many awards i've missed when I knew I had won my age divison a lot of them. I know a lot of people live for saturday mornings and winning cheap medals and that's awesome, but to be honest that"s not why I run those races. So hopefully that helps answer that burning question why she left. I did see some results where she ran a race with her dog i'm not sure if that makes the dog a cheater to? Maybe someone can answer that for me lol

Life, I don't live in NWI anymore but I did run a race a few months ago where Rachel also ran. I saw her warming up with a group of people and be social with them ran the race and I really didn't have a problem with it. Look at the comments on this post they are horrible why would I talk to people like that. As for Karen Nagel she is a solid runner but even she has to know doping or not she has never and will never be at the level of success that Rachel Marchad has been at. That's what i've tried to get accross she is winning these races not because of EPO because she is more talented. So if I was one of the top female runners in NWI I would welcome Rachel to these races because it gives me someone to chase.

Wow, Region400, normally I don't like to specifically call someone out on a message board, but you really look like an idiot with your posts. The sad thing is that in your first post, you said you were a college coach. I feel sorry for your athletes. Also, just take a brief minute and proofread your posts. We all might be able to understand them a little better, although the idiotic points you are trying to make will still be the same.

Racheal Marchand didn't just win her age group, she won the race OVERALL (female). She owes the Race Director a measure of courtesy & respect to accept her award. The RD puts a lot of time & effort into putting on that race.

Marchand's family is one of the rudest, most vile group of individuals that I have ever been around. There is no doubt she cheated, I would guess she had been cheating for some time even. I don't blame the small town newspaper reporters for not risking their careers on what is considered a second rate news story. Valparaiso is a weird town that I had the unfortunate curse of living in for a period of time. It's a place that believes it is a classy cosmopolitan city and a cute innocent small town. It is neither. If she wants to run and enjoys the sport, that is GREAT, but if she want to continue to spit in the face of the sport by racing, that's disgraceful.

This right here shows that you have no clue what you're talking about. As I've noticed at all the races, the ridge runners are the only runners talking to her. Pay attention. Funny what you think of the panic. Collette Liss ran it all the time when she was a professional. Aaron Craig was thinking of turning pro and ran it every year for a while.

She never stays for awards at any race she does. She must really like to party. The dog race she did, everyone ran with a dog. For not living in the area anymore, you sure know a lot about which races she's doing. Don't make up stories to hide who you are just to defend your friend. All her former teammates want nothing to do with her. High school and college teammates stopped training with her. With you being out of the area, you wouldn't know that her former coach doesn't want her to run with them.

I still don't see the point of this post and saying Liss and Craig and now Matt Blume run the popcorn panic just proves my point that they do it because it's a hometown run and it's fun to see some old friends. I don't see a problem with anyone running in events like these even if it's Rachel Marchad. For people that don't run professionally themselves why are you making a big deal about this? Race directors are worried about one thing and one thing only making a profit at the end of the night they will be more grateful for the $20 then not having someone show up to receive an award it happens at every race. As for her former coaches not wanting her around they have every right to do that I mean her coach at Iowa was training her at the time of the positive test the last thing he wants is that to happen around his other runners. This situation shows athletes that everyone has choices and she made a bad one now she doesn't have a chance to qualify for the Olympics. But just because someone trains or talks to someone who was caught doping doesn't mean that they will make the same choice Tyson Gay's training partner test positive before Worlds this year but that doesn't make Gay a cheater just a bad choice by someone else. If the IAAF wants her to stop running races in NWI they will let her know and if race directors want her to stop running in races they will stop accepting her money until then let her run and worry about what you can control. I brag about the running community in Northwest Indiana all the time being a close knit group of people it surprises me that this is a big deal it really does. I am just saying that it really shouldn't be. One Region One Love guys.

Close knit? There are thousands of runners in the area. Not sure what you mean by "close knit". Agree that it's an area to brag about and most of us want to keep it that way. Having one of how many U.S. runners who tested positive for EPO winning races in Northwest Indiana, takes away from what is so great about the area. The place where Rudy Chapa and many more greats ran. Runners that became great by running insane mileage and workouts. Don't want to be known for having cheaters who took shortcuts to be fast. Really, what are you getting out of this by making excuses for her? I believe you are one of the ridge runners who warms up with her before races. Trying to throw everyone off by blaming them. Look real cute wearing the same singlets at races. Tell her to stop racing.

A few of us in the race are trying to become pro. We are tying the clean way. Shoeless Joe Jackson can't set a record at a school game. Marchand can set a record on a certified course. If she wants to donate $20, she could do it and not run the race.

Speaking as a Ridge Runner, I would like to say that we do not encourage or endorse Marchand's decision to continue to race. In fact, we all believe that the race directors should not allow her to run. As a group, we try to make a point not to talk to her (although some of us don't always follow this).

As far as our uniforms...I think you are just jealous that you don't have one. Perhaps you should man up and pay your dues on the Fazoli's route.

This sounds to me like a few Male Road Race Warriors who are having a difficult time handling the fact that a Female is beating them in a road race. There is discussion about races where people are walking their dogs. Is this really worth all the time and commentary? Train harder, run faster, beat her heads up. Otherwise let it go.

I don't know who she is but it's fine with me that she runs.

This Wada or whoever are a bunch of drug corporation crazies promoting the use of drugs in sport - there was no problem before they came along.

They are the ones who have no business in messing with athletics results and careers.

The sooner they are kicked out of athletics the better.
