How can you say that about Chris Solinsky? Not a nice thing to say about anyone!

I knew there would be a$$ clowns saying he was looking for a way out. At that speed it doesnt take much to send you astray. Chris is my boy, but he should have finished that race even if the judge DQ'ed him on the spot. It shows your character. I REALLY like what Alberto said about Galen(same goes for sol) “Scratched up and sore but upbeat.. Has to learn to stay out of trouble.” Just like the Tour De France, you TEND to stay out of trouble in the front of races and find trouble in the tail end of packs.

Still pumped fo my American boys at worlds, plus Lagat still dropping PRs. Sweet Ballsy race by Mo though.

He wasn't even going off the track after he was pushed. He makes the decision about 2 steps later to take a big right foot step to go into the plants. He was definitely looking for an 'out' at that point. Fatigue does funny things to people. The simplest of knocks can cause huge frustration and I think that is what happened to Chris. The worst thing Chris could have done was DNF in that 10k several weeks ago. He now has it ingrained in his mind that pullying out is an option in races.....................difficult to overcome this!

YES, and the amazing thing is how he prearranged it with camera operator to be right there to film his grand exit! What a great plot, and not easy to get the push timed right, but there was the camera, the rare in-bushes cam, so off he had to go. Rupp was not so wise, and his was off camera and got no fun attention you all could rip into with your more-amaing-than-theirs keen awareness as to everything that happened.

But, serious now, if you read his twitter, something I about never do, he agrees he should have finished, so maybe many of you are amazingly more aware than he was in that instant he stopped:

"Tough Pill to swallow! Should gotten back on to at least get A standard 4 next year, but emotions (angry) took over. Back 2 Amy & training"

He was 2nd after Rupp to congratulate Farah, and my guess is he stopped in utter anger, sub-13 pace making the oxygen in his brain minimal, and by the time he had a clear thought, too late to go back in.

Merga and Solinsky get into a bit of a shoving match 50-75m before the point where Solinsky appears to stutter step and step to the inside of the rail. Solinsky then throws his hands up in what I believe to be an attempt at faking anger, and starts walking.

Scott Holland, I would say the same thing to Solinsky's face. He's a big boy, a few strong words, either said or written aren't going to hurt him. But, I hope he got a solid ass-chewing and from Schumacher that will stick in his mind the next time he gets frustrated and quits a race, so that he won't automatically make that choice to check out again.

Like a few other posters, after watching the video 100 times, I can see in his face that he checked out of that race, and quit because he was irritated with the way it played out. If he could go back and change things, he would have stepped back on the track and finished (he admitted to it in a tweet post-race), or he would have controlled his frustration better and not let Merga and Alameirew push his buttons the way they did.

I am a huge fan of Solinsky and Rupp (and Farah, and Lagat, etc...), but I'm not a fanboy. If I think any of them is being a huge pvssy, I'm going to speak my mind. They are men of action; lies do not become them.

Scott Holland, you are part of the problem. You condone this weak behavior (giving up) by looking for true and honest supporters of the sport, like me, to be shut up, and shown the door. You may not like my version of criticism, but I can tell you, criticism and high expectations will get our runners a lot further than you and your goddamn participation ribbons and back rubs.

Go for a good hard run and think about it.

Mo Farah wouldn't have been trying to win this race last year. That seems to me to be the main difference between Mo last year and Chris right now. Chris set his sights a bit too high and is pushing himself to win races that he's not ready to win.

The bottom line is that Solinsky was running a few seconds faster than he could manage yesterday. He ran all out for 4000 meters and called it a day. Leave it at that. Next year he could be winning races like Mo if he doesn't take the message board mindset too seriously -- that anyone who doesn't win is a complete loser.

My advice to Solinsky would be patient to start running some races within himself and plan to finish strong. Even if it puts him 5-7 seconds off the lead at the bell.

RUPP AND SOLINSKY just can't cut it against the world's best.They are just Stember and Lunn with faster PRs.

A little more decisiveness, grabbing your destiny by the balls, like Steve Jones demonstrates in the video above, would do Rupp and Solinsky good. Solinsky ran 26:59 with no experience! Rupp beat the shit out of Merga head-to-head! Why are they afraid to take the pace? Bob Kennedy did it, and he didn't have half the wheels that Rupp and Solinsky have. But Bob had guts and a desire to try to make something happen instead of sitting in the back and waiting for someone else to take the pace.

Either one of Rupp and Solinsky have the strength and the speed to run at the front just like Lagat and Farah. They've tried sitting off the pace, and it isn't working, especially not for Rupp. Time for a change of strategy. A 62 second lap tucked into third place is just as hard as one from 15th.

Merga: Yeah, I wanted to take him out. As we were coming off the turn I just cut him right when I saw the bush and camera guy coming up. I figured there would be one less American to worry about.

What do you really think each one of them would say that would shed any more light on the situation given it took place in the matter of seconds.(assuming the Ethiopians speak any English at all).
