My name is Gaylord Focker and I'm a murse! OK, it's not my name, but I did run 2:14 in the marathon (just to keep it running related) and am a male nurse. Lots of ignorant 20 year olds on this post. My nursing school class consisted of 70 students, 65 women and 5 men, 3 which were gay. Quite a nice ratio.
My first nursing job, with a BS in nursing in New York City, paid $72,000 a year. Where are these $150,000 jobs people speak of? I now have 5 years experience and live in a smaller town making 50 grand a year. Specialized training, advanced degrees, and proper location MIGHT net this kind of income. The job provides lots of opportunities and flexibility which is a plus.
No, this isn't for everyone, especially 20 year old homophobes "experimenting" in the YMCA locker room. If you are self confident, strong in science, and overall don't really give a shit what people think of you, well, then it's not a bad choice.
Did I turn in my man card? Maybe the OP should ask my girlfriend when he's done checking out the dudes in the YMCA shower.
