My Congressman, whom I last spoke to personally a year ago, travels without security. Obviously, given the tendency for over reaction in our Land, this will change.
Giffords is a blue dog Dem and independent in how she votes (not doctrinaire liberal), she is married to a Space Shuttle astronaut and was a Fulbright Scholar & is a rising young star in American politics.
KOLD in Tucson, to corroborate an earlier poster, states she is NOT confirmed dead, but in surgery. 5 others, sadly, are confirmed dead with at least 12 people having been hit by the gunmans' fire. He, at this point I.D. unknown, was wounded and taken into custody.
Giffords holds these regular meetings in her District to keep in touch with her constituents.
There is no way, at this time, to confirm if this was related to the drug violence in Mexico, a politically oriented act or just a lone whackjob.

I lived outside Washington when Reagan was shot. Hinckley was a nutcase. It doesn't affect my argument about other nutcases.

Concealed carry works. The liberal media will only give you a spin such as yours, not the cases where having a gun scared off a criminal or minimized the number of people murdered by the criminal.
