... South Eugene is possibly the strongest through 6 (all sub-4:08y), but I don't know who would round out their 10 because they only had 1 other guy listed in Hoffman's list...

That 1974 Lompoc team (not the 1973 team that everyone talks about) was also strong up front, although it had lost a lot of talent to graduation. Jim Schankel 8:58, Roger Fabing 9:03, although the third man's best was only about 9:30 that year during cross country season. Terry Jackson was the track team's best 880 runner and so didn't run two miles during track season. I suppose that 27:31 doesn't quite make the cut for the 1974 Lompoc squad.

Fabing's 9:03 came in an invitational early in the track season and everyone expected him to break 9 minutes before the end of the season, but it never happened. Peaked too early I guess.

Incidentally, Jackson's brother, Charlie Jackson, single-handedly won the California State Track Championship in 1971, winning both the high and low hurdles and placing third in the long jump.
