Names that come to mind from this school: Alan Culpepper, Kara Goucher, Adam Goucher, Jorge Torres, Dathan Ritzenhein and Billy Nelson. If this is the standard by which he will choose a school, the winner is COLORADO. Note: if Schumacher was still in Madison, they would have to be highly thought of. And that's the way it is.

What the eff ? LV wants Summer Olympic and IAAF Outdoor medals. He should pick UCLA, USC, and Texas Austin. Those are the medal schools.

You have the wrong events. Not a lot of medals or anything else from them in distances except for those around a certain stud miler.

Mick is no slouch, look at the times for 800 through 10,000 last year as an example, and they would have been a strong second if Krause had not blown up in the last half mile (he was passing people still from 8000-9000m and was up to ~14th).

Of course it would make the run more important too. Triathletes who are strong in the run but a little weaker on the bike can sit in the peleton and conserve energy for the run.

Yeah except really we all know Stanford totally would have won if 5 of their guys didn't blow up in the last 6.2 miles.

And my team definitely would've made NCAA's if we hadn't blown up in every race this season.

Teg missed a medal by 0.03. Try the HJ and the 800 for old-time medal success. But comparing medals is a fools game in that it is much easier in the sprints etc with the nature of the US talent pool than in the distances where Kenya and Ethiopia present a formidable challenge that has only gotten tougher was they have been exporting athletes.

No, wrong assessment. The person I was replying to was using medals as a measure of something and many other measures could be used as well. Medals are top-3, but why not top-1 or top-5. In fact, rarely do we look at the Top-3 of something unless it has this one particular variant. Thus, if you use other, essentially similar/same measures, finishing fourth by 0.03 is not a "Coulda Shoulda Woulda" case, but a measure useful in itself. Of course, any time that you use a lower 'order statistic' for a measurement, the number in that class will be larger, so your standard ratchets up a little. However, it does not ratchet up as fast as going from 0 to 1. But of course, you reallly knew that and you know all about order statistics because this is a statistical sport, right?
