who has tried lydiard's 200mile/week marathon schedule?

You're absolutely right. My goal is always not to get sucked into this stuff with him and I always do. Eventually I manage to give up and let him ramble. But part of me hates letting him have the last word every time.

And you're also bang on about poor english speakers being able to get their points across, something I alluded to in my comments about foreign grad students I used to teach.

Before teaching grad school I taught in a high school where we had some kids from Hong Kong who had just gotten to the US a few days before the start of the school year. They could barely speak English at all yet their written assignments were understandable.

Feel free to tell me to ignore this guy anytime.
