Why does everyone hate Rupp so much?

This a risk everyone who's name is known has to accept and deal with. Some people will hate you. Some people will love you. Celebrities and top athletes just have to learn to handle extremes. In a way it helps toughen a person up to not be sensitive to personal attacks or complaints.

If a celebrity or a top athlete dislikes the public attention they can choose to do something else with their life. I think the excessive attention is why some top athletes --too many from high school to possibly list-- stop competing. There really are other things to do in life.

Bottom line: Rupp comes across as a flaming homosexual. It does not evoke good gut reactions. The rest of the justifications are just verbiage aimed, usually ineptly, at explaining those gut reactions.

Well unfortunately my feeling is that the biggest fanboys are very young (nothing wrong with that), but haters are not. I understand young kids having heroes and wanting to defend them, not so much grown ups putting down others, especially for things like looks. If you overlook the great qualities of a person to focus on their shortcomings you certainly have some personal issues to hash out.

Rupp is so solid, it's actually unbelievable. It's a bit of a shame he couldn't enjoy his experience more, but he seems to have dealt with it like an absolute champ.
