Pretty much everyone who runs fast marathons has a lot of speedwork and aerobic base in their legs. Talented or not.He has what, 18 months to hammer out the speed?

Quite possibly, which is why I don't think he should be granted an exception. If he does get the standard he's not going to place. So he talks it up and doesn't make it, that's good because it shows the world's fittest man still can't qualify for the Trials, shows how fit the real qualifiers are. If he does qualify and talks it up, he'll finish deep in the field and live coverage will show him deep in the field. He'll still generate some talk, and again he'll end up showing how good the other guys are.

It is crazy to think he would ever make it, but I do think he could go sub-2:30 if he really focused on it. I mean, shit, how many of us can really relate to having the ability to recover like this guy? So, who can say? It's pretty obvious that he's wired differently physically and mentally than the rest. Again, 2:19? No way, but if he actually trained faster, less and tapered, I have no doubt he'd see something surprisingly fast.

I don't believe you. He may be a bit arrogant, but I didn't think he was this ignorant. Maybe he's hoping a special exception is made for him so he won't have to get the standard given his celebrity status.

Give him a break asshole, he can run and you can't--look at his record in races--he really races and is competitive and you're not.

How has he shown any arrogance. The guy clearly has the credentials to possibly make the trials. Please tell me where was arrogant. This the problem with letsrun, there is so much Dean Bashing but you guys only focus the bashing on him.
