What does Ma's Army and thr OTC army have in common? Both were very good at avoiding positives. Oh wait, OTC is white english speakers do not cheat. It has been proven by the bible that white english speakers are incapableof cheating.

It does indeed seem very ominoous if Qu and Wang were able to run 3:50.4/3:51.9 when running at such a pace. It indicates their ultimate potential was somewhere closer to 3:47 or thereabouts.
Pace:
400m: 57.2
800m: 2.00.7
1000m: 2.33.2
1200m: 3.05.2
It does seem like they slowed towards the end, especialy when compareing 800-1000 with 1000-1200 splits.
definitely seems like 400m to me though - and I've enver really bought into the short track theory anyway. Just seems to convienient an explanation. The track stewards and omega timing indicate a professionally run operation. I'm always wary when looking at web footage in any case, particularly when it comes to older meets. Maybe a slightly skewed frame-rate or something...
Nevertheless, its very fascinating.

They were female and they probably took drugs, but they did not split 42 seconds. The whole pack did not split below 44 seconds. Never to break 4 minutes ever again...
So she closed her last 300 in 45 seconds?
Yes. After a blistering opening, and a slower midrace, Junxia pushed Qu to through a hard final lap.
How much would I pay to watch that entire 10K world record?
I'm poor as shit and would pay $100.
$50
$100 for the 3K
I still think this was a combination of great athletes running a short distance.
The Chinese men weren't that great so they didn't run unreal times.
The women won international medals but never approached these times outside this meet.
Wang bettered distance world records 4 times in this one week, once even in a prelim.
Still no complete videos.

Doesn't explain why the men didn't record times anywhere near the same level of the women. Even a 13:40 man would have been under 13:20 on a short course.
And it doesn't explain Jiang Bo, Lang Yinglai, Yin Lili, Lan Lixin, Zhang Ling and Dong Yanmei going 3:50.98, 3:51.34, 3:53.91, 3:54.52, 3:55.01 and 3:55.07 in Shanghai four years later.
The men's races may have been run tacticly as Championships normally are. Again, didn't see the races.
What explains the reason why they don't run so fast outside of China?

The same reason you saw 10 year old girls in gymnastics claimed as 16 (legal gymnast age) in the past olympics.
It was insane to watch that. They throw a paint can on their faces to try and fool the world and it was embarassing for the world to watch. I was ashamed for China and the irony is they have absolutely no sense of guild because their are not morals to institute guilt. The poster nailed it when he said that if you don't try to cheat in china you are considered weak in business.
Basically, it's whatever it takes for image and the means can be ignored as long as the results are "positive".
Those runners were a friggin joke. Drugged to the gills and those records were set on short tracks.
But of course I could be wrong because theres been a good deal of consistency of running at that level over the past 15 years....get real.
If anything the economy, nutrition and knowledge have all boosted in China since then, but yet their runners regress? There was never anything as blatant as these chinese women in recent history than the Russian gals murdering sub 2:00 800's last year and we know what kind of test results they came up with. And if they are actually gettin caught that much, think about how much they are getting away with. But I'm sure the Chinese were legit.
Bye the way, where can I get some chinese turtle blood and why isn't it part of the USATF recommended breakfast shake?

No competition.
Shanghai isn't short. Or else their Men's 1500m meet record wouldn't be 3:32 or whatever it is.
The Shanghai games were held at the same track the Diamond League meeting a few weeks ago. It wasn't short.

You don't think that track could have been adjusted since then?
Well, of course it COULD have been changed, but it's a pretty paranoid thing to think. In Shanghai especially - the most affluent city in China and always sport crazy - to think no-one noticed the city stadium had an undersized track is just ridiculous. And that's before you consider the numerous minor meets that would have been held pre and post-97. I just doesn't add up.
