No, had you stated the part about heaven in your original post it might qualify as irony. You are making the mistake of assuming everyone would be aware of the heaven part. For instance, a Muslim not familiar with Christianity would not be aware of any irony in your situation if they had not read the Bible. You never commented on that in your original post therefore it cannot be ironic that someone simply gave their life to Jesus before death. Its interesting but in and of itself the event is not ironic. Oh, and yeah I made a typo but you got what I was saying. And I believe my mother scenario qualifies as situational irony. As far as debut times and spectacular times "You have my pity.." On a world scale what Ryan has done is not that awesome for his time period. He's not Frank Shorter and he's not Alberto Salazar. At least they ran close to the world record or could compete consistently in major races and I mean 1st or 2nd not 3rd or 4th 2 or 3 minutes back. You need high 2:04ish to 2:05 speed to be up there in a real race like London or Berlin. That much is painfully obvious.

Its hilarious that a meet Ryan Hall ad came up in one of my post above. Yeah, I can meet Ryan Hall at home. He skipped a race so I'll wait another year before he flops again. He races like twice a year basically. Name a major marathon medal winner or Olympic champ that only races 2 or 3 time a year. I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Why does Ryan die in the last 3-4 miles when he races against the best?

Yes, if the wind usually blows up the valley on that course, he should run the first few miles into the wind and finish before the road curves round into the wind, to get used to running fast in the last few miles.

Spot on..... Hall and Company are a mile back fom WR times. They can't even hang in an open half let alone adding another 13 to that.

Ritz should have just stayed @ 5k. He gave up to early. Nice to see Webb staying at the mile. Scott, Coe, Walker ect... stayed focused and honed their skill.....not jump'in up to a thon. Once you go up to a "thon" you can't come back down. Shorter, Meyer, Salazar could run a 3:59 but day in day out on the European circuit.....they's get crushed.
