i am 43 years old and am 5'8" and weigh 128 lbs with 8.5% bodyfat. is this good or what? my legs are f***in' ripped too. i look better than 98 % of you 20 something fatsos. i also have a 24 year-old girlfriend. so there. i also drink beer whenever i want. ya'll know why this is? cause i run every single day. EVERY day. many times twice a day. you'd do well to emulate me.

I'm 26 years old and one of the most impressive and couragous guys out there are the 14:xx-15:xx 5k-ers in their prime that are chasing their masters PRs of 16:xx. I love it. I have no clue if I'll have that when I'm older. For those that do, keep it up and don't be afraid to show a little old man cock/balls this weekend.

As a 48 year old, I feel entitled to voice this: You are a douche.....and obviously have always been one.

And to the OP - nice troll. But in the event that you really have that type of attitude you might want to keep in in check. Once you finish school you will find yourself training on trails and tracks that have masters runners.

We often bring beer to Turkey Trots, hold post race and workout parties at our homes, and look after the younger runners if we can. Our homes are much nicer than yours and we can afford more alcohol and better food. I'd hate to see you at home alone with your hot dogs, 6 of Milwaukee's Best, and cutting wit.

Finally had to look at this thread, and I have to say it's pretty funny. I'm sitting here at 35, nicely between the 2 camps, but I have to say I'm identifying with the masters group. I'm quite certain that my PRs are in the past, from now on its just a question of how little can I slow down each year.

But I'm fairly happy with that, in that: most of the guys that I raced against in college and immediately afterwards are now nowhere to be seen. Every year, I hear some recent college grad commenting about how they plan to rip up the roads and keep training hard, and almost invariably they fade off. The fact is, its hard to keep up any sort of decent training if you have a career, new family, or both. And most people hopefully have at least one of those. I've had to make myself a morning runner now, since after work I want to spend time with the kids, and when they go to bed my wife and I get to hang out a little, or she gets her run in.

Lets face it: everyone gets older and slower. You might want to try learn how some of the old guys still keep enjoying the sport, despite getting slower. Eventually you'll be getting passed by one during a race (assuming you keep running); you can ask him then.

I did it sub 16 minute 2 mile fun run ! Yeah ,I flew a few elbows,but it's pretty competive up hear cranking out sub 8 miles . When I crossed the line, I yanked my toupee of my head and waved it to the crowd much like Bill Rodgers in the 79 Boston Marathon with his ski cap . Relentless . Downside , I think I may have left my dentures in the port-a-potty.

It's a beautiful day, here. 55F start temp on a classic XC course after a cool front moved through yesterday with rain. Muddy trails and wet fields for a Turkey Trot, "Yeah baby!"
