How do you geniunely believe you are going to run 1:02-1:03 when you actually run 1:06:44? I can see an novice runner making such a miscalculation of their fitness, but you think an elite would be a little more in touch with their actual fitness level.
I understand it was humid but not bad enough to effect times by anything more than a minute.

I frikken HATE this logic. We are NOT discussing if we can beat him or what our times are. We are discussing the integrity and false-claims of a self-proclaimed elite runner. You don't have to be fast to be a student of the sport, appreciate runners that do it right, and not appreciate those that make fools of themselves. If a third string quarterback in the NFL started making claims that they were ready to lead the team to the Superbowl - are you not allowed to talk about it because you're miles behind that 3rd string QB when it comes to your personal football skills?

Josh should not be training w/ Meb or Ryan. It benifits nobody. It's evident he's not compatabile physically with either - so he's just fooling himself. Do you notice how BADLY he needs to fit in with this group? He's ALWAYS referring to Meb / Ryan as "Meb K. - Olympic silver medalist and my training partner ... " and "Ryan Hall - AR of the half marathon and my training partner ... ". He wanted that branding of 50k AR so badly it's not even funny.
It's like an online certificate holder from Univerisity of Phoenix trying to blend in w/ Harvard Law grads - it gets uncomfortable to even watch.
I'm not trying to bash - I wish him the best and I think he actually does a great job of reaching out to people to get them involved with the running community. Stick to that - promote distance running now. Regarding your own personal training / racing - hide away, train like hell with your mouth shut, bust a great performance, and then come out and self-promote. Don't open the door to real distance running fans to be your critics.

It is not a goal if it is not realistic. 62-63 minutes has never been and will never be realistic for Josh Cox. Especially during marathon training.
He did not "put it out there" to share a goal. He said something outrageous for the publicity, and it worked.
