Actually the post (from Sunday 12/21) mentioned the Celtics would lose twice NEXT week. That means the OP was referring to the week of 12/28/08 to 1/3/09. Therefore, the Celts will have to lose Friday (1/2) to make the OP's prediction come true.

I'm guessing someone was picked last at recess.

The Hawks and Cavs took the Celtics to game 7 whereas the Lakers only took them to game 6, so what does that say about the Lakers? Going by your argument that means that the Hawks and Cavs, both in the "leastern" conference, were better than the Lakers. Also 2001 only had a best-of-5 series for round 1, so the Celts would've only gone to game 5 with the Hawks if they used the same format.

You Lakers fans keep saying that Celtics didn't win by much, yet every time Game 6 is brought up you have nothing to say.

We don't need any additional proof to determine that the Celtics are the defending champions. They are deserving titlists. However, when you declare that "They proved (they are the best team in the league) beyond any reasonable doubt," that's simply an exaggeration. When every one of your playoff series is a narrow victory, nothing could be further from the truth.

Congratulations on the Celtics returning to the luxurious surroundings of their Eastern Conference schedule. Based upon their last road trip, if they played in the Western Conference their record would be something like 8-22 right now! LoL!!!

Keep bragging about meaningless regular season games. Even with 4 losses the Celtics still have the best record. You can enjoy calling us the Leastern Conference, while we will enjoy our repeat NBA Title! LoL!!!!

I'm from Cali and have been a Lakers fan since the 1980s. That being said, LA does not want to make fun of Boston's sports teams. I never even liked our football teams when we had them. Beyond that, the argument that the team winning the championship did not prove itself beyond any doubt is ridiculous. You win the championship, you're the best. That's a pretty simple equation.

They made the playoffs and won every series they played including the NBA finals. No other team can make that claim. That, my friend, clearly proves they were the best team. To argue differently is just silly.

Considering 4 of the Lakers 5 losses have been to Eastern Conference teams, I don't think their projected record would be much to brag about if they played in the East.

While it used to be true that the Eastern Conference was woefully inferior to the Western, that clearly has changed. ESPN, for one, recently had only the Lakers ranked among the NBA's top 5 (the others were Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, and Detroit). The times have changed.
