Justification: Muddy ditch at the start, broken glass, massive tumbleweeds, dry air that could cause nosebleeds.

Justification: Too many holes in the ground, jackrabbit infestation.

2007 Big XII Course (Rawls Golf Course)

Lubbock, TX

Rupp Certified

Justification: I didn't run this one, but it was on a pristine golf course. The only complaint I heard was that the ground was too soft/squishy.

Pristine running course with a zoo and theme park for afterward.

Very dry weather that might dehydrate Rupp and starts out on a downhill that is easy to trip on or fall over. Some sharp turns and downhills as well.

Brilliant. These gay jokes are at mouth-breathing 8th grade level. If he is gay I hope he comes out and camps it up even more. Wear pink sparkly gear and forearm gloves. It still won't change the fact that he'll be one of the best all-time American distance runners.

Ya know what's really mouth-breathing? The insistence that rupp will be the best American runner ever. That all runners should ignore their own opinions (and other equally good or better runners) and get on the rupp bandwagon.

Rupp may be (at times)very fast and incredibly talented. He might also be humble (as if I could give a sh!t). Rupp may only be 22 years old, that's a young adult to you doting fanboys, not a kid.

Rupp is also a huge doofus. Rupp IS a professional athlete who, with HUGE financial backing from Nike, gamed the NCAA rules with Nike's attorneys so that he could wear a UofO uniform and even occasionally compete.

People like rupp make me want to puke. I do not support rupp and no mouth-breathing dweeb is going to convince me otherwise. I love this sport and am perfectly happy supporting legit college runners.

Many of you will continue to insist that anyone who doesn't support rupp is bitter or jealous, and that not supporting him will come at the expense of future American running. You people live in a fantasy world where only your hero's matter. Grow up.

Furman University XC Course

NOT Rupp-Certified

Too many sharp turns.

Part of 1st mile is on a cart path instead of on the green or fairway.

Tree roots everywhere, esp. the 400m long stretch of pines at the finish.

They should never have run NCAAs there.

Marietta XC Course

as Coach Stanley would stay "its the worst footing you'll run on all year."

Therefore its not Rupp certified

Excellently presented. An articulate opinion I mostly agree with. And this topic is funny as hell. Those that disagree are probably the same ones that still laugh at Bush or Kerry jokes after the 20th time.

Berea College in Berea Kentucky. You run through a rocky creek and most of it's a swamp. NOT Rupp certified.

UC-Davis (flat dirt), Colorado State (flat grass golf course) are basically track meets on perfect surfaces. Rupp certified.

Home Course of The Gow School (nationally renowned for those with dyslexia)

South Wales, NY

NOT RUPP CERTIFIED

Justification: There are ups, downs, mud (it is muddy year-round regardless of recent precipitation), asphalt, big rocks, roots, and it is run pretty much in the bed of a run-off streambed. Basically, an XC runner looks at the thing and is in awe of this example of real cross country.

Way too many hills. It is also pretty muddy after any amount of rain.

Oh, he also has to run against Liberty harriers, which doesn't go well for him.
