Now that's a TEAM, 5 men, a basketball team. If you pick a half-court two-man team, or a one-on-one player, that would be a different story

Your "team" would get punked by any other team with a one Michael Jordan.
The OP asked for the dream TEAM, not for is the best one-on-one player who played in the weak NBA soon after expansion diluted the talent on each team.
i honestly do not think that tim duncan deserves to be on the ultimate nba team, with that said there really isn't any pf that sticks out as being on the level of mj, magic, or bird. in response to the man on 1st page discussing all of the nba final games that hakeem the dream dropped 30 and 40 on david robinson, im sorry but that never happened. They were both in the same conference.
my team:
PG - Magic
SG - MJ
SF - Larry Legend
PF - Mail Man (would prefer just to have Oscar Robertson or Russell instead, never has been a worthy PF yet)
C - Wilt
Bench - Latrell Sprewell
Coach - PJ Carlesimo
That's right. It was in the western conference semifinals that that happened. the Rockets would go on to sweep Orlando in the finals. My mistake.
Where does God Shammgod fit in with these teams?
Shaq
Magic
Kobe
Larry
Tim
anyone who leaves michael jordan off the list is a moron. He was ultimate competitor. he made his teammates better (luc longely, john paxson, ron harper, horace grant?), he could score at will, he was 1st team all defense almost every season, he was an amazing leader (managed to rein in dennis rodman) and his teams won 6 nba championships.
he has accomplished more than any other player to ever step foot in an nba arena. you have to be a complete jackass not to have him in your starting 5.

I disagree. The greatest team isn't necessarily the 5 best offensive players at each position. If I were picking, I'd focus on defense and building the starting 5 around Jordan. I would not put 5 good scorers that need to dominate the ball on the court at the same time.
SG-Jordan-Easiest choice. He's taking the most shots.
PF-Duncan-No other option at PF in my estimation.
C-Olajuwon-I want his defense, dream shake, superior athleticism and ability to defend all over the court. Shaq/Chamberlain are tempting, but I don't think either player would accept a sidekick role at their prime.
PG-Stockton-Although he's not the offensive force, he's a much better defender than Magic in my opinion. He won't care about rarely shooting. I considered late 90's Kidd, but his shooting was too awful. Chris Paul may be the choice in 5 years.
SF-Bird-Hardest choice for me. I chose him to put a pure point bomber in the starting 5. I could easily be persuaded to go with Pippen (defense) or LBJ 5 years down the road as well.
Thank you. I can't believe it took this long for someone to get it right. It can't just be the top scorers in NBA history. You need a crunch time guy, a scorer, an amazing point guard, a shooter or two, a center who is going to dominate the middle, rebounders, and defenders. Your list is decent.
O'Neal
Kobe
Bird
Magic
Havlicek
Modern Era Guys(80s and beyond)
PG- Magic Johnson
SG- Michael Jordan
SF- Larry Bird
PF- Tim Duncan
C- Hakeem Oladjuwon(sp.)
Bench:
SF/PF- Kevin Garnett
SF- Scottie Pippen
PG- Isiah Thomas
C- Shaq
SG- Kobe Bryant
Reasoning: Plenty of scoring on this starting 5, but all are unselfish and have to be THE man besides Jordan maybe. Great defensive front-line with a ton of blocked shots, and a lockdown guy in Bird. Magic gets everyone the ball and keeps them all happy. He can lead the break as all guys can run the floor including the big men. For the bench, Isiah gives some toughness and shooting in the point guard spot. He can dish as well to all of the shooters. Garnett provides intense defense as well as shooting and rebounding. He'll be more than happy to defer to whoever is hot, and will be a good team guy. Pippen is a defensive ace gives the team versatility. He has good energy off the bench and can the floors in an uptempo game. He can also finish. Kobe gives you instant offense off the bench, and a clutch shooter to go smaller with at the end of the game. Shaq can dominate other centers if the matchup calls for it, and he can provide intimidating D.
Whoops should "don't have to be the man" and Jordan, not Bird is the lockdown guy who can guard PG, SG, and SFs.
The consensus Dream Team is
Larry Bird
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Kobe Bryant
Magic Johnson
Oscar Robertson
Anyone who leaves Jordan off of the list is either:
a) out of their f***** mind
b) biased because their teams had no chance of winning the NBA title when Jordan was in his prime.
Who else has finals MVP 6 times?
My Dream Team...
Just give me the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers...

B is the only one necessary. More to the point they are from one of the cities that got dropped by the Bulls on a regular basis and are still bitter.
For all those who want to leave him off the all time team:
How many other players have won a scoring title AND defensive player of the year? Then, How many of them have one BOTH in the same year?
Shit, i would put lebron on the team before jordan. Jordan took to many shots, and missed most of them. Lebron on the otherhand, is a team player and can also get it done on his own.
Yes, and Lebron has more titles to prove it, right?
you are retarded. michael jordan shot 49 percent from the field for his career.
lebron james? 46 percent.
next time you open your mouth try not sound like such an ignorant moron.
