I way disagree with you on the kids being just as excited to go to the Oregon course..god knows what, mud, water or hey the glaciers are melting right. Many kids all over the country will never get a trip to San Diego..in their life.
Without a doubt kids would want to go to San Diego..NO CONTEST! However, maybe I am ignorant on NTN and an individual championship even possibly being held at Balboa. And who knows maybe Footlocker said bite us.

My guys loved the course and had a great time because it was so ridiculously over the top. I mean, 100m into the race you had to run for 40m through +6 inches of water just before the camelbacks. Add all of the mud and it was truly insane.
Of course, they might've liked Balboa, too.
Just for kickers I wonder how the Cal. runners, teams and coaches are going to take to going to Oregon on that rough and tumble mud and water course. A little drizzle and they always yelp about they can't run on such a crap course. Maybe they are just joking though. As a coach I get a little miffed that the Cal. runners have a little advantage at Balboa. To much advantage their DOJO. Hey Nike is just doing this cause they know every runner in Cal. is going to have to go and and buy NEW SPIKES! I knew there was more to this! :)
