I can't argue that the video is hilarious. And it hard to understand why everyone acted the same way, when to do so is not typical.

However, what exactly does "just a bunch of girls" mean? That is a rhetorical question. No need to answer. Because it is obvious that what it means is that you have little respect for women and automatically discout their actions. Do you do that for other races, countries and religions too? Ok, I take it all back. The women in this one specific race decided to run harder than any one group of people in a race have ever run before.

How do I know this?

Not because I'm a god, but because of how many people were flopping around, groaning and falling down. I've never seen that many people flop around before in my life, so CLEARLY they ran harder in this race than any race I've seen.

I'm a little disappointed in the winner however, she didn't flop around at all. Even though she set a course record, she clearly didn't run as hard as some of the other women who couldn't even stand at the end of the race.

It is NOT mental, it is physical and unless you are a doctor or go get really, really educated you should just SHUT UP. I have NEVER said that to anyone on this board but you do not deserve even that much if you continue to be an idiot.

I had just joined this thread and could not get past that dozen or so posts on that particular point. It made me more upset than anything I have ever read here. I said don't post more about it unless you know and you have not; I hope no one else starts up. Thanks for listening to those other people and my apologies for not waiting to the end and for picking on you. (I am not being factitious with the apology, I mean it.)

SHUT-UP ALREADY, SURPRISE!!!!!!!! People have different abilities you retard. The girl who won the race is obviously stronger than the other girls...hence first place and new course record. One's effort depends on the INDIVIDUAL involved. Even if the ladies were "drama queens" as you say, they ran one heck of a race according to their times. I'm looking forward to nationals and hopefully the weather will play to the runners favor.

Anyone in that race spend $900 a month in hair gel?

Some of the women I coach recently ran the fastest times of their careers at Pre-Nationals. If the falling out was needed to run as well as they did...I'm all for it. Some of my ladies were plum exhausted and I hope they can repeat the performance once again during these next few weeks of championship racing.

The video was funny with all those women falling out and I'm sure some of it was drama but those gals were rolling through that course. I wouldn't dare say it wasn't a hard effort for the women because that is relative to each individual runner. The video was fun to watch and I think the guys body snatching the women at the end of the race was even funnier and probably adding to the ephoria.

Sheeit, you ever seen a women's steeplechase? Half of 'em can't even finish the thing without going for a swim at least once. At the slightest bit of discomfort they quit and put on a complete drama show.

I'm the idiot? I've written numerous times their performances in the race were great. The times certainly reflect that.

The ENTIRE point of the thread was if they were drama queens. The original poster started the thread with this in mind.

So stop hijacking the thread and writing about different abilities. So profound. "People have different abilities." Wow. Here's my contribution. "People have different color hair sometimes."

If you can't stay on focus about the drama queen factor, please start your own thread about how great the women ran. I promise to contribute to that thread and concur that a ton of women ran great times. I also promise to not discuss the drama queen factor on that thread.

Definite drama queens.

Here's a thought, if a race at this point in the season caused you to finish with such poor form, you basically just blew your "load" for the remainder of the season. (You can race above your fitness level once in a while, but don't expect to feel sharp during a race for some time after going into the well like this. This is especially true given the way most collegians train.)

This would suggest a couple of things. Maybe the women are all aerobically undertrained and pushed the most out of their bodies they could given their current fitness. Or, none of the women's coaches know how to train their runners to peak, and we saw a lot of season PB's in that race.

Or, maybe, just maybe, most of the women weren't "falling off" as much as they led on and decided they wanted the attention the other "dying" women were receiving.

The misogyny of this thread is frightening (and no, I am not a woman...). From the title itself to the glee it seems some of you are taking in female runner' perceived shortcomings. Do this many people really think that those runners were out to "put on a show?" And what's with the steeple insult? "At the slightest bit of discomfort?" Please. Stop piling on women who are simply out to try and run hard.

I guess I don't understand why it seems to be in our nature to take pleasure in denigrating others. I'll go back to hide under a rock now.

Alright, I just showed the video to my wife (without me pre-empting her), a former NCAA Qualifier and a couple of observations:

1) Her heart almost broke for Danielle Tauro, she almost started crying watching her struggle to finish

2) She then saw all the girls being picked from the finish by the finishing crew and asked me the following questions: a) how hot was it? b) how fast did they run? and then after another minute of carnage, "this is ridiculous, the girls just see each other getting pulled and thus are just wanting to follow suit and lay down, rest, etc., definitely too much."

Take it for what it's worth.
