I second that. And Loyola Academy isn't even in Chicago. It's in the leafy, ultra-wealthy suburb of Wilmette. It's where Michael Jordan's kids go/went to school.

Yeah, cause weather is such a minor issue when running a marathon.

My constituents...It's 5 days before the race...you can't worry about the weather yet. Worry about your taper until later in the week.

parking?

a breeze...there are a ton of garages all within a couple of blocks from the start. Traffic is never an issue--keep in mind how many more thousands work downtown on a given day, the marathon is a barely a blip on the traffic radar on a Sunday morning.

All I know is... look at what they had predicted for Boston this year (40 degrees, 40 mph winds, rain, sleet) and look what actually came (light winds, occasional sprinkle or rain, cloudy, 45 to 50 degrees).

All we can do is wake up race morning and dress for the weather. Give Mother Nature the finger and go out and race anyway.

there is a big difference between trying to time a Nor'easter (basically a non-tropical hurricane type of storm) VS looking at simple temps and humidity...it is going to be sticky in Chicago. High on Saturday is the same as Phoenix!

and i would rather be in a dry pheonix, esp in the morning. no matter, i have been training here in NC, and it isn't gonna be close to the last 2 months here...

Phoenix is not always as dry as people think.

dewpoint sunday pheonix is 44.

Chicago is not the only fast course in the country folks. If the weather is not PRable but you are ready to bust one, skip Chicago and try Detroit or Columbus in two weeks, or Niagra Falls in three weeks. All fast courses.

Great idea! We'll just forget the entry fee here, book the flights, hotel rooms at all 3 and see what the weather looks like and go for it!

At this point, all of that is a sunk cost. You've spent it whether you run or not. If 80 degree weather is going to f&*%k your chances, what's a few dollars more? Better to spend a little more than waste the last 4-6 months of training. But hey it's your (potential) PR, I guess it depends on how much you want it.
