Ten years ago, I would agree with you, but today not having all 100 hours available for free on the internet is simply inexcusable dereliction of duty on the part of USATF. It\'s so easy to get 100 volunteers with their own personal camcorders, credentialed, on the field recording the races, and with thier own computers, uploading the videos to youtube. Such as waste.
Are you crazy - why would USAT&F give everything away for free??? Doesnt make any sense? I guess if you NEVER want Track to grow in the states. Also, people complain about NBC coverage - HELLO - It is network TV. Track needs as much press as possible. And as much as I love the 5K and 10K, the normal people (who NBC is trying to reach) could care less.

I give my time for free coaching and officiating. Should I charge every athlete that I coach. Should I charge USATF for every meet I offictiate. Should I charge eliteracing for every marathon I officiate. Should I charge BAA, NYRRC, for every marathon I run. Where do I sign up ? If I can quit my job in bio-chem and just do T&F, that'd be the life of Riley, I can be like the dude I met in at Az Marathon, the professor (forgot his name) who operates trackandfieldphoto.com ;-)
Kids spend more time on the internet now than watching TV. For the sport to grow T&F must move to the internet. USATF, IAAF, NCAA, etc. are behind the times. There needs to be a house cleaning, and the old retards surveyed out to the Las Vegas casinos and buffets, and replaced by young bloods.

the ratings you quote are for broadcast t.v. only. t&f cannot limit itself to the tired old 60 year old television industry. the internet reaches all corners of the globe and races can be replayed at any hour of the day. the internet is the future of t&f. all aboard.

In other words, we at nbc do a crap show, not great like flocast with their fantastic broadcasts/commentary/production....look, we've seen flocast, it's great for the track geeks but its crap otherwise...most track fans don't even watch it - just the geeks and the flocast family, so bash away at nbc...then tell me who on tv does a better job
I like NBC. The Internet IS Where T&F will make the biggest advances.
