Spring: Deshutes Mirror Pond (preferably cask condition)
Summer: Bridgeport Blue Heron/Rogue's Pilsner
Fall: Widmer Alt Beer
Winter: Deshutes Jubel Ale
Of course the plethora of brewers' seasonal specials can turn this list upside down and inside out...
Just another note. The reason the macro's have such a unique "taste" is because they use a rice/corn blend to brew their beer. The rice/corn has a higher glycemic index and therefore a shorter brewing process. Typically it would take 2 to 3 days to brew with rice/corn...
Additionally, they send their beer in concentrate to local "mixing plants" to lengthen freshness dates or avoid refrigeration costs. Hence the cheaper costs plus cheaper flavor. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It just takes a less sophisticated palate to appreciate them...
For Micro Breweries it will take about 2 weeks to brew an ale with hops, barley, malts and up to 6 weeks for a good lager/pilsner/Weiss Bier. Therefore requiring a more sophisticated sense of taste and style...
