How many americans do you think can get into that meet? I promise you that many of the sub 28 minute guys can't.

Rupp runs 27:33 and everybody praise him as the next coming
Hall runs 2:08 and same thing
Abdi runs BOTH within 8 months of each other and barely gets a mention.
....I wonder why this is????
It's not hard to figure out. Rupp is still in college. Abdi ran 30seconds slower than Hall, never once being in the race, on a perfect day. Hall took it to the field on a warm day on his marathon.
Any more questions, Mr. tryin-to-stir-up-shit?
Abdi was with the leaders at 20 miles in Chicago. and whether Rupp is in College or not he is still making more money from Nike than Abdi. His contract is very similar to What Alberto had while at Oregon.
in addition the wind was worse in Chicago this year than the 67 degress was in London.
give me a break.

NOT
Did you even watch Chicago 06? Abdi was up there in the last 1/4 of the race and it was NOT a perfect day.
Take out Mebs silver! And Abdi is the best US runner in the last 5 years! And he can out drink every other distance runner!

Judas Johnson....this sums up the attitude on this board in spades.

Because Abdi is black.

Ok smart guy. I know that you only believe what you read so check the results page (including splits) on the Chicago Marathon website.
The 35k split(that is over 21.7 miles) was down to 4 athletes and all have the exact same split of 1:45:48
Cheruiyot
Njenga
Muindi
and ABDI
While your checking the results I will anxiously await your admission of ignorance.
Thank you for the help. I knew I was right. It was also 20 plus mph winds from the west the entire race.

That's a cross wind.

Thanks for the info, tits. I guess the professional era isn't all it's cracked up to be, at least not among US runners.
You've now answered the question as to whether you're an idiot or not. You are.
Thanks for playing.
I did not know we were age-grading results now (i.e. Rupp is in Uni etc)
If Malmo had not started this thread, NOBODY on this board would have recognized this season-opening effort by Abdi. Nobody...the front page even says,
"..This race and the 2003 Worlds explain why American(sic) do not try and run the 10k internationally anymore, although Abdi ran 27:31 for the US lead..."
Americans *do* run these races. Abdi was there. There was only one Tanzanian - does that mean Tanzanians do not run these races?
The majority of people reading this board should be smarter than the marketing shills @ (unamed footwear companies) that push a "phenom" as the best runner in the US when that is patently FALSE.
Go Abdi - I'll be sitting in the Gold Seats in Osaka yelling my head off for you!
I believe that you feel that way. Thanks for sharing.

Correct. Although not from 12-15 where it is a head wind. Also when downtown you get the swirling thing going on. It was windier than Boston ended up being this year although Boston was a headwind the entire way.
what do you mean nobody? just because it's not on the board doesnt mean people didn;t read the results. i saw it. plus it's not a season opening effort. he ran a 3000 last week at the adidas meet.
Let's see... a 20 year-old collegian breaks the collegiate record while WINNING an exciting race in a huge PR, OR... a pro gets buried in the pack of a Euro time trial, well off of his previous best, and only a few seconds faster than the young Oregonian. Hmmm, that's a tough call....
Rupp is 21 years old.

Being 20 and running +30 seconds faster than GR obviously doesnt rate on your radar screen.
This is one of 3-4 races this year that will determine world rankings and who gets into fast races at the end of the year. I would be VERY (happily) surprised if GR was in any of these.
