Man this is really entertaining. I have to jump in here. It is pretty funny to read some of the opinions on this board, but opinions based on misinformation have no validity whatsoever.
Fam didn't make a movie about himself. I made the movie about him. I'm not trying to put my name in the 'letsrun' spotlight...I'm just helping everyone understand the facts. I was Anthony's team-mate at Tenn. and have remained friends with the guy over the years. I am a fan of this sport and of him personally. He is a unique individual, an enormously talented athlete, and he has a rare capacity to simply be himself no matter what criticism that may bring.
We thought it would be a great idea to make something different for kids and hardcore fans of running...that's it. We came up with ideas about what direction we could take the movie, but in the end, I am inspired by what the freaking guy does and has done...and that is what I think really comes across in the film. Fam is not some egotistical dipshit sitting around editing shots of himself on the track - that's ME. So if you want to peck away at a keyboard bashing somebody anonymously, just direct it to me: Doug Ellington - famiglietti super fan (& half-assed film producer).
Did you buy the footage or produce it yourself?

Support your Sport!
How many times does a REAL running video come out? I'm not talking about that FakePre shit, where the actors look like they couldn't even run 3 miles or that Across the Tracks Bullshite, where a 1:58 half will get you a scholarship to Standford. I'd rather watch documentaries like 5000meters or Run Like Hell any day!
ts
I can think of many better ways to support the sport than buying one guy's ode-to-me DVD and watching it. It's a nice thing for some fans to enjoy, sure, but don't get carried away with decreeing its importance.

As for the 1500, this was the first year I have seen him running the 1500 or mile competitively.
I take it you've only been a fan since 2005? Fam ran 3:37 in 2004.
I am so sick of hearing complaining all the time about how running doesn't get the kind of coverage it deserves, blah, blah, blah, and then you go and bash a guy for giving some publicity. You are such are freakin hypocrite. Fam isn't the one who needs to grow up, that would be you.
I got my copy a few days ago and had a few runners over to watch it. They all seemed to like it pretty well. I think I liked the fact that it shows the hard work and dedication that it takes and you still don't win every race. I think it is more of a biography.
I give it an 8 out of ten. I would like to see more workout info. more insight to his thoughts and such at meets. Maybe a part 2 in a year or so.
Good job and thanks for promoting our sport.
When will Running with the Buffaloes be made into a movie?
I thought it looked interesting enough to buy. Bought it, watched it, liked it. It was worth the money, I thought. It certainly was different from most of the stuff you see out there.
It's a great snapshot. It will be interesting to see how Fam looks on this 20 years from now.
Bought it for my buddy for Christmas. We both liked it. Who cares what some anonymous idiot on LetsRun thinks about it?

You're right, it doesn't really matter what some anonymous idiot on letsrun thinks about Fam's movie. The problem I see is on a broader scale. I see so much complaining about the state of distance running (it's lack of popularity, lack of money, etc.). However, when someone gets a big contract people whine that he doesn't deserve it. When people try to promote the sport running "fans" complain because they are cocky, self-righteous, their book/movie wasn't good enough, etc. When people try to make a little extra income (Paul McMullen, Fam, etc.) everyone complains because they are "ripping us off" or they're "only out to make money", etc.
I just wonder (and I know many people have already brough this up) whether runners are this immature, hypocritical, jealous, and just plain mean people as letsrun makes them look, if it's just how things go on message boards, or if people in general just have a terrible attitude about people who are making something of themself and doing what they love?
