What don't you believe? That he actually uses their return policy? Or that they canceled his membership? Because I can guarantee that he uses their return policy. I know I do. In regards to captain positive, I don't know how my logic makes an absolute loser. I actually consider myself a winner. People are jumping on this bandwagon and claiming he's stealing shoes and he should be ashamed of himself. Yet I bet these same people, including you, have 1000's of songs on their computers that they sure didn't pay for (and so screwed the artist and recording industry), and I bet they've bought used books for class (which screws the author of the book). I'm missing how the logic is flawed here.

Well if you could read, you'd see that he doesn't believe that the guy is able to buy kids movie tickets. Seems reasonable to me to be skeptical of the idea that a college age individual could convince the person selling tickets that he is under 12 years old or whatever the age is.
Well, I've been buying from RRS from when they were advertising in the back of Running Times w/ the road runner logo - and I've paid the $20 one time back in the 80's, so they still give me the 60-day warranty and fast delivery. I've probably sent back 15 or so pair that I didn't go out the door in, and around 10 pair that I did actually run in; they've been pretty good to deal with. The only thing is, now there are other cheaper outfits to deal w/. My adizeros from Holabird were $56, w/ $5 for shipping. Even Eastbay beats them occasionally. I've even found that the small running shops around the country will be glad to ship to you - like Colorado Running Co. But, deliberatly sending back pairs just to exercise your right of return,is kind of like going into the bathroom to spew at the buffet so you can eat more.
The guy sending them back gets full use of the shoes, the puker doesn't get full use of those calories.

I used to be a total cheapass, and do questionable things like this, and then I realized - why don't I just find ways to make more money? Now I'm rich and happy.
It's called Fandango...it's 2006 and if you haven't noticed, everything is automated these days...most of our purchases simply serve to keep this giant ant colony functioning...seemingly anyway.
I think probably the reoccuring theme behind my ability to "suspend my ethics" in the case of these purchasing loopholes, is that I don't feel guilty about taking advantage of some huge, impersonal, data-collection engine.
I couldn't justify buying a pair of shoes, wearing them, and taking advantage of a liberal return policy at a Mom & Pop's neighborhood running store but when you're dealing with some generic 'machine'...it's an amoral situation to begin with. I don't know what the solution is but Project Mayhem might be a good start.
Well if you think the Fatwallet forums aren't full of advice on how to screw the man...you might be rich, happy, and naive. One guy posted a 'deal' about buying something online that came with a 20$ gift card. He then selected in-store pickup, never picked up the item, and cashed in on the free gift cards when they came in the mail. Ethical/Unethical? Legal/Illegal?

And I was wondering what the original falsehood was that he was alluding (is that too complex of a word?) to. That's called reading into the post because obviously he was alluding to something else, on top of the fact he was talking about the movie tickets. So how about you learn how to think, then post. Fandango... whatever... conscience-free, justify, no accountability - I must be old-school; but personal - and I do mean "personal" ethics - would prohibit me from returning something unless I had a legitimate complaint. I was taught nothing's free; so using a product and returning it just to get something for nothing would give me a very cheap-ass opinion of myself. Been-there-done-that and don't like the way I feel. To each his own.

An obvious lie makes the whole story suspect. Can you grasp this? I would imagine that he posted with the assumption that people could make the connection.

You're naive, because how business is conducted has changed but your attitudes towards conducting business has not.
Once again, looking at my original post, as you can see, there must be a specific part of the story that he doesn't believe, unless he's naive enough to believe that people don't use the return policy for their benefit, like ruby, or myself. If he were to answer my post, then my question would be answered, and I could address his response accordingly. As it is now, he hasn't responded, only your dumbass has. Can you grasp that?

Ruby doesn't mind stickin' it to the money-sucking conglomerates cause they screw everybody else - so I should "change" w/ the times and adopt the same attitude? I think not. Yeah, call it egotistical or whatever - it's what my old man taught me to live by - I don't need a free pair of shoes or anything else free from big business for a "get even" attitude. rubyinflames I just want to post that Ive been doing the same thing for a 1 1/2 years now, 18 pairs of shoes. I wonder when my time will come. I just wont answer the phone when they call me so then ill never have to talk to them about it. Maybe then I can keep buying and returning shoes for a while longer till they kick me off. Hopefully that work b/c I dont have money to buy shoes. I run 100+ miles a week so my shoes are bad in a month and I need new ones. Think I could tell them that they werent last 45 days and that why I was returning them? Anyways Im on your side on this one!!!
actually, RRS doesn't "lose" the money you note. they flip those shoes as returned in their store. They are selling many of them not for much more than what their actual cost is.
