Whether he cares about stats is really immaterial to the GOAT conversation. Caring about stats and being the greatest basketball player ever are not mutually exclusive.
That being said, I frankly think arguing about the GOAT is one of the most hackneyed and boring ways you could possibly spend your time. There is playoff basketball going on right now involving real games and real matchups, but some people would rather argue about LeBron James versus a player he’ll never play one dribble against. Wild.
