No. That was my point. You are confusing 3 different things. Although athletes have to compete in school uniform at Arcadia, it isn't a school event. Teams who attend from 1000 miles away are not taking all 100 boys from their team. It is an event where 4 boys are having their parents pay for them to attend and run a relay and an individual event. The team is off competing at a school event in their home town with the other 96 kids.
99% don't go D1. But I agree that a girl with a 5 minute PR who drops to 4:52 at a national meet may takes her from Oklahoma to Oklahoma State or from Colorado State to Colorado.
In it’s simplest form, its an opportunity for kids and parents to travel together and create memories. If you have the means then why not? These opportunities aren’t forever

I can't believe there's the money to pay for it. If we left our general area we had to pay for the bus.
Taking into account, dormitories, meal plans, and other expenses, college costs at least $80k per year. I don't know too many families who can afford that.

It's the same here in Australia. A number of my athletes didn't race in our city this season due to lack of competition. Thankfully Sydney is only 3 hours away but some have had to fly to Tasmania and Melbourne. Maybe next year on recruiting trip we will stop off at Arcadia.
If you are looking for an incredible 3200 experience Arcadia is the race.
