People of all ages attend college. Not just teenagers to early '20s. It's not age group track.
I guess thats the question? There is nothing morally wrong with running track at any age in college. Its a matter of how we see it. Is it a young adult sport? A bridge from HS to wherever? It seems anyway we are not as outraged with other sports. Katie Ledecky set DOZENS of NCAA records swimming for Stanford long after winning dozens of Worlds and Olympic medals. Same for several other swimmers. Gold medalist Jordan Chiles (24) still...competing in NCAA. Since there isnt "pro swimming" or pro gymnastics, isnt that like any older pro adult playing a college sport or olympic medalist running for a college team?
There is pro swiming and pro gymnastics. Unfortunately, there isn't much post collegiate amateur competition in those sports. This leads to a situation where basically only those who are world class can continue past college.
Obviously, they want to win. But just recruiting older foreigners doesn't seem right. It's against the spirit of a college competition. I'm glad they didn't win and the championship went to Georgia instead.
Silan Ayyildiz is 26 (born Oct 10, 1999) and Wilma Nielsen, the winner of the women's mile, is 24 and she'll be 25 in June. (born June 2, 2001).
Stop your whining. Anytime a white man is not on top you start whining and claim its unfair or they are on drugs etc etc.
Maybe if you weren't on these boards whining and training you might win something in life.

For sure. Think about some 18yo freshman going against a 26yo international racer. Not cool- but totally expected from someone like Flanagan.

That's nothing.
A 30 year-old male Olympian just took double gold in the Canadian collegiate championships for swimming ("U-Sport").
Current freshmen were in kindergarten when this guy turned 18.
