People need to stop caring about world records. If he can get into PR shape, then he can get some new world records — simple as that. He’s still young enough and talent doesn’t go away. Stay healthy, stay patient, stay optimistic
Stay realistic.
This aint like 2024. In his 2024 comeback, he was coming off the heels of his best year ever. 2023 was the year he finally ran 3:27, broke the 2000 and 2 mile world records, ran 3:43-7:23 in the diamond league final and won gold-silver at the world championships. Had it not been for Josh Kerr defeating him in Budapest, it would have been a perfect year.
This time he is is coming off the heels of his worst year ever. A year that was ruined by injury. A world championship where he suffered a first round exit in his main event. That means he's coming back from a much lower fitness level than he did in 2024. It's easier to come back from top of the world than from rock bottom.
It's been around 11 months since Jakob was able to train full bore at his highest level without any injury complication. That is not the kind of base that leads to a world record.
