He has national selection to deal with in most years so regulating the DL is harder than it is for some. This year he should be much more of a force though. No national selection needed and no GST.

Assuming he has the balls to compete with what remains of the best in Diamond League.

In a year with no Ingebrigtsen, post injury Kerr, out of Shape Wightman and aging athletes (Cheruiyot, Habz) the DL are up for grabs. If you show up.

Oh and they have real anti doping tests, at the DL...

If Ruthe turns out to be ill in the next couple of days, you heard the prediction here first. The battle for a spot and going after a fast guy counts for some but he fell off enough to have something more than mere fatigue from those things.

LOL! Whoops, spoke too soon. All but one American top 10 indoor mile times were run in the last 3 years. Blahahahaaaa! What a joke.

In perfect conditions and pacing, he ran 3:48. Today, with more pressure, he tried to run 3:46, wasted some energy and ran 3:52. Ignoring his pb, if you just watched today's race, you'd think he's CLEARLY a sub-3:50 guy.

Lack of respect to the other athletes much? Everyone was running to finish as high as they could in the race and it's where you finish across the finish line that counts not your placing before the race is finished.

Hocker's the best championship racer there is right now, with two golds, and there is a sea of American male athletes near the top at 800, 1500, 3000, and 5000. Meh! I'm with rojo on this one. Ruthe was, in his mind at least, trying to take on Hocker in the first 500m. In the last lap, Ruthe became a target himself.

He's not saying Ruthe had a bad day, he's saying the BU track is 2-3 seconds faster than this track.

And thus Cole Hocker is already in 3:42-3:43 shape on the BU track? Damn, we better get him over there to not only beat Jakob's WR by ~2 seconds, but also to run faster than the outdoor world record indoors.

You want the better explanation than the one that ridiculously concludes with Hocker being vastly better than anyone else ever? Ruthe wasn't able run the rail as well, maybe he was a bit tired after a couple recent efforts, and maybe as a 16 year old, his mentality wasn't quite as good in this one when he couldn't quite hang onto a ridiculously good field.

I just noticed that World Athletics scoring has this mile as Hocker top performance, just above his 7:23 3K from last year. Maybe would’ve thought the 3K is more impressive? Idk.

Obviously his Olympic 1500m was his top scoring result outdoors.

His "consistency" has been in losing. His losses far outnumber his wins.
