GST couldn’t pay their athletes because of mismanagement and a bad product. The format was bad. They tried to manufacture drama and it failed. Just pay the athletes as much of what you owe them as possible and F off.
I am so f-ing tired hearing about GST. There will be no second season. I don’t care how the bankruptcy plays out. The meets were absolutely terrible. Wanyonyi winning that mile was the one interesting thing that came out of it. Other than that it was just dumb (I want to use another word here but my post would get deleted). Go outside in the real world, go to another forum other then LT and no one is talking about GST. No one talked about it while it was on. It's a none event for 99% of the world.
Even athletics fans outside USA didn't care. It was a very niche event set up for Americans. Surprisingly it went badly.

Many of the folks on this message board keep asking why the athletes would take 85% of the money owed to them. Well, it would still be the best payday they have had in their life. And if GST found a way to have a second season, and the prize money was placed in escrow, so the athletes were guaranteed money they of course would do it. Why? Again, its the best payday that most of them would ever have in their career.
The real issue I see with a season 2 is that Michael Johnson surrounded himself with all his boi's and buddies. That was his downfall. If one is going to start a business you surround yourself with the best lawyers, accountants, operational, and marketing people available. He surrounded himself with clowns. There would need to be a complete new group running the organization.
