Read what I wrote. I very specifically wrote "closed a version of the Michigan workout" as that is what my buddy's text said. Neither the text nor my post said they ran it exactly the way Warhurst's guys ran it. They may have but I don't know that to be true.
So please dont be that guy.
Then it isn't a "Michigan". Call it a Utah or BYU if you want. If someone wants to do it differently, then so be it, but it isn't a "version". Besides the Michigan is copyrighted/patented so only that specific version can be allowed to be called the "Michigan".
Copyrighted? Patented? STFU!
The "Michigan" is simply a workout comprising of running a threshold distance (mile, etc..), followed by a brief recovery, followed by a "tag" repeat, which commonly is a 400m at a designated pace (10k/5k/3K/1500), brief recovery, and repeat as necessary (x4, x6, x8, etc..). I personally did x8, but that's just me.
You don't think that big jumps from 18 to 19 are normal?
I know the Hedengren family personally. I'm on record on these boards as being pretty f***ing jaded when it comes to doping, so I'm not going to sit here and say it's impossible. But of all the elite runners in the world, Jane Hedengren doping would shock me the most.
I’m a cynic and all I see is a talented athlete, who probably doesn’t drink or party and was born at altitude, now with the top program in the country doing pretty special things.
I would bet that she's doing higher quality along with that lower volume, and that, plus greater physical maturity, means greater fitness. Or, to put it another way, she has now set down six more months of healthy training, turned nineteen, and added to recovery by cutting miles. In the longer term, she'll likely start adding mileage next summer.
Wouldn't bother cutting the mileage of she were on EPO, but just increase the quality. Unless you think they are intentionally drugging her and holding back her training so she isnt too fast to cause suspicion. Totally brilliant

Sue me if you want!
No. The Michigan is a workout designed by Ron warhurst to simulate a 10km xc race. In fact the correct rep distances add up to 10km. 1600m/2km tempo/1200m/2km tempo/800m/2km tempo/400m. 1600m hard simulates getting out strong at the beginning. Then the tempo simulates settling in. The 1200 and 800 simulate surges during the race before settling back in (tempo). The 400 simulates the kick.
Absurd to think the person that got her to her high school level didn't know what he was doing. He seems to be replicating it well with Susan too. The fact that Jane has continued to progress in her freshman xc season means he kept things under control and handed her off with a lot left in the tank. He's already helped her be in a better position than most high school phenoms we've seen before.
Hedengren left absolutely nothing on the table last spring and obviously did enough training to get there. How, in addition to that, did her father keep things under control and hand her off with a lot left in the tank? If true, he’s reached a level that makes Brosnan look like a middle school coach.
Not really. There is a difference between high level training and overtraining. Jane got the former well most prodigies get the latter.

Just about every HS coach knows that the goal is to maximize performance without overtraining. It’s also not precise; someone can overtrain by 10% plus and not significanty increase the chance of injury. How do you know that other prodigies are overtraining? There seems to be minimal information online about how top HS females train.

Someone should have told Mary Cain's coach. There is a reason many prodigies are constantly injured and out of the sport within 2 years of graduating HS.

Cain didn’t suffers injuries until she was coached by Salazar and it didn’t have anything to do with how she trained in HS prior to Salazar.
Your second sentence is pretty general. Some runners are injury prone regardless of how they train. And as far as your many prodigies, I doubt if you have any information as to how they trained.
Many LRers like to work backwards when a runner has tremendous success. With Hedengren, it’s due to state of the art training put together by coaching geniuses. It couldn’t possibly be because of superior talent, that there are other coaches that could have obtained the same results or that Jane deserves most of the credit.
