You may be laughing, but two healthy years of uninterrupted training is sometimes all it takes for these pros to reach their potential. Look at what being injury free has done for Hocker. Going back more than a decade, after Ritz finally put a few healthy buildups together, he broke the freaking 5k AR. PV is at least as talented as Monson was, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to think she can run around what peak Monson could do in her best season.

I don’t think it’s much use arguing with Barrett Dahl anymore. He’s just going to believe and type whatever he wants no matter how contrary to reality it is. Everyone has tried everything and nothing works. I think my new strategy is just to regard his posts as being like the hundreds of unwanted adds that we see on this site anyway, and just ignore his posts like I ignore the adds.

4:36/M, which is 14:18 AR pace, will be a tough ask for Valby. That is 8:34.8 3k pace, which is slightly faster than her current 3k pr, and she has, to the best of my knowledge, a best of 4:31 in the DMR. So, she'll have to either get in a lot more miles or improve her speed. I hope she does it but it's a lot to expect to see a 34 second drop for a fragile runner who can't run mileage yet.

If a person is injury prone, which surface is actually the best? Seems like roads would be a bigger joint impact issue, but grass/dirt is more uneven, and the track requires somewhat faster interval work. Not sure which one of these is better or worse.

She just doesn't take posts here too seriously, which is proper way for a pro to handle this board.

I doubt her PRs under 3k are what she is actually capable of. She ran that 4:31 leg for Florida all by herself with nobody to gauge off of. Her 2:13 800 pr is from her junior year of HS. I think she can at least run a 58/2:06/4:23 which is about what Monson could run.

It is very surprising. Coogan seems like a level headed wise old man who knows exactly what he’s doing. Was he pushing the training too hard? Was whatever happened over something unprofessional? It would be great to have some idea of what happened.

Just from looking at Mark Coogan's instagram, it looks like New Balance Boston has added four female athletes: the top three from last year's Providence cross country team (Alex Millard, Kimberley May, and Shannon Flockhart) as well as Margot Appleton from the University of Virginia. I think Kate Mitchell is still on the team and maybe also Lea Meyer (German steeplechaser).
