What just screams doping on some level is the fact that he NEVER needs recovery when everyone else does. Even the best have to choose between a robust spring classics, vs grand tours peak vs WC etc... he won darn near everything or was close in every spring classic --sometimes with 5 days rest, then tore everyone up in TDF grand tour,
He stated that he was broken after the TDF. He skipped every race until Montreal and the Worlds. He didn't do the Giro or the Vuealta. On the spring classics, one day races are nothing to these guys. They all do them with 5 days rest or less. The whole peloton has gotten faster. part of the reason his improvement curve is so steep is that he was 19 when he started winning. These guys get stronger as they age (to a certain point) which is why they have a young riders category. the carb ingestion rate means that nobody bonks anymore. Ya, maybe it'll come out "to the gills" but right now, there are enough other variables that justify his improvement.
