In NYS we changed to metric i the 80's and immediately men ran 1600m and women ran 1500m. Women never ran 1600m.

The '86 and '87 yearbooks are on classmates.com. JL is in both--the standard individual photo for both her junior and senior year. Her senior year, she's in a photo with the drama club. The HS had a girls track team. She doesn't appear in in either the '86 or '87 group photo.

AI is such a Grand Slam Track level joke. The whole promise of AI is that you're supposed to be able to ask hard to find things and get a reliable answer. This is the title of this post. The Lists are from track and fields old prep magazines they used put out every. I believe they no longer are in circulation.

Re-look at the list. For the mile 4:49 would have been on those list for those years.

The question of the thread is let's find out if she ran 4:49 for a MILE. Not 1500 or any other distance.

This traces back to my hot girl friend story who quit junior year to go on Spring Break. They do whatever they want and despite being talented, end up not going out for track. They have other things to fall back on at 17-18.

Hard disagree. As someone with research papers on things like Deep Learning etc, its the opposite. Generative AI is best for things that is quite easily verifiable, such as instructions and how to solve pc issues, get feedback on text and on code, get quick example code snippets, summaries on different topics.

AI can't find an answer that's not there though. It's hard enough to find some of my results online from the '90s let alone before that. Results weren't catalogued in the same way at all. You only have to look at powerof10 to see that. Even major results were left out. Jennifer Lopez obviously ran track and was at a relatively decent level for her age. As for the 4:49 - who knows?

And the clear answer a few posts in was no, she meant 1500. That seems to be true, and the LRC vigilantes are all dressed up with no place to go.

Some of y'all are still leaning on your high school mile times as a source of pride and meaning to your life...meanwhile J Lo making money and using HER TALENT. Find your talent and then you'd have more validation in life and not have to rely on your high school times for self esteem.

If you is over 40 and has nothing to bring up other than your mile time, please get something going with your life. Please. FFS.

Someone already said this but it’s worth repeating for those of you who haven’t looked at a map lately. There is no way a young teen going to school in the Bronx in the ‘80s is competing on a track club based in Staten Island. Those may be Jennifer Lopez’s results but they’re not JLo’s.

Lopez is a common Puerto Rican surname and there are a lot of Puerto Ricans in a lot of parts of NYC so you may be right but it really doesn't matter, does it? Nobody cares what time someone ran the mile in in HS.
