Are Dems really holding out for healthcare for illegal immigrants?

Thank god my tax dollars are being used to provide free universal healthcare in places like Israel instead of for those hard-working immigrants living in our communities.

We're in this shutdown because, for some reason, Republicans don't want to release the Epstein Files.

The CR as it stands would double and triple health care costs for millions of Americans.

We can't have that.

For myself I'd rather pay 5% of my retirement income for comprehensive coverage rather than the amount I DO pay for very limited coverage from Medicare through (for some reason) Humana.

The answer is Obamacare needs a fix that was not in the BBB as what the Ds did in 2020 (for Covid) expired, and why hold up this CR for that vs doing what legislators are supposed to do - negotiate and pass a bill. Unfortunately, like many Federal programs, Obamacare will not hold up as it was supposed to.

Just like in Obamacare, "elections have consequences".

There is still the shuffle of money by which in effect the Feds cover healthcare costs otherwise in violation of law, but that is a separate issue.

The truth is the Dems are holding out for more spending at a time when we already have large deficits. The sort of financial suicide that led us to $2 trillion deficits years after the COVID emergency. Dems whine about tariffs and they whine about spending cuts. At the end of the day, they are holding out for fiscal irresponsibility.

The Trump cultists literally incapable of grappling with the issue at hand. They just double and triple down on insisting their lie is true, like Daddy would do.

The FACT is that health insurance premium subsidies are ending. Even if you want to lie about these subsidies going to illegal immigrants there is no denying that they also go to tens of millions of Americans. There is also no denying that once you take away these subsidies, health care costs will increase massively for the people who receive them (who are pretty much uniformly poor). Every credible health policy org says this will happen.

What Republicans are saying is that they would rather let thousands of Americans die or go into medical bankruptcy than risk allowing some illegals to get healthcare.

You people JUST added trillions to the deficit in the name of unnecessary tax cuts, and now you're turning around and insisting that we kick poor people off healthcare in the name of fiscal responsibility. Its disgraceful.

That's not what Vance said. He accused New York of spending federal money on US citizens, and spending state money on "illegals".

What Vance is saying is simply not a problem for the federal government, and the Republican solution is to take away the federal money for the US citizens, requiring the state to fund federal Medicaid with state Medicaid funds, for those states that provide Medicaid.

What you are saying is quite different and amounts to accusing states of committing fraud. There are solutions to ensure that federal reimbursement is limited to what is intended and permitted and not fraudulent. And Democrats were and are still willing to negotiate to address any federal funding concerns for "illegals", but it is the Republicans who have refused to open up any negotiations, using fabricated allegations of fungible spending, if not fraud, as a pretext to kill healthcare nationwide, while blaming the Democrats and the undocumented migrants, and give the funds to the rich.

If we have such large deficits, why are we trying to borrow more money than we are cutting, just to give more handouts to the rich? Why not cut the spending without introducing any more tax breaks for the rich? Then use the $17 trillion Trump says we received in 8 months to pay off half the debt? Then after Trumps tariffs and spending cuts have eliminated the national debt, we can redistribute the wealth.

Republican fiscal irresponsibility dates at least as far back to 1981 and Ronald Reagan.

Please provide examples of handouts to the rich. As part of the 50% of the population that actually pays federal income tax, I would like to know what handouts our government is giving to the rich that I am evidently missing out on and that I am paying for.

I mean other than the rich people who were given money to buy electric vehicles and solar panels and the rich arms dealers who were made wealthier under the previous administration.

Kicking the same people off healthcare that were without healthcare under Obama, and basically every other administration prior to Biden. COVID era expansions were never intended to be permanent. Most of the people who are uninsured will remain 18-39 year old working aged adults who choose to go without. Kids and the elderly are almost universally covered regardless of whoever sits in the White House.

There are less than 1,000 Billionaires in the US. Do you really think any politician is shaping policies that could potentially alienate over 150 million people to make sure that they get 1,000 votes? Think for yourself, don’t listen to the party lines.

You clowns will believe anything. And Trump is counting on it.
