Danny Everett (400m 43.8? open) and Kevin Young (400h WR first sub 47) specialist both of UCLA back in mid 1980's never trained for 800m but both ran sub 1:50 (the first and only year they attempted). Both men also ran 200m in sub 20.20.
So it's proven it is possible for World Class 200/400m runner to run fast 800m. Heck didn't Jarmilla?
You're confused about the point you're trying to make. You said that Danny Everett and Kevin Young ran an 800 about 8 seconds slower than the world record so Sydney can run a fast 800. Yes, Sydney could also run an 800 8 seconds slower than the world record but that's only a 2:01 and there's no point in her running a 2:01.
Even if Sydney could do a little better than that and run slightly under 2:00, why in the world would Kersee want her to do that? The answer is that he wouldn't.
Kersee is only interested in Sydney running events in global championships where she has a good shot at winning a gold medal. Sydney has no chance to win a gold medal in the 800 so Kersee wouldn’t let her try the 800 even if Sydney wanted to, which she doesn't.
