The way athletes respond to different types of training is way too individualized to be able to claim the Norwegian system or any other system makes runners more or less injury prone.
Andreas Almgren went from being injured every season throughout his entire career to not having any major injuries after switching to the Norwegian system, and fulfilled his potential of becoming the fastest European in history in the 5000 and 10k.
I am not sure there is a bigger drama queen in track and field right now than Jakob, unless it is ShaCarri.
Man I hate to agree with you, but I sort of do.
Look everyone gets up on Josh Kerr for his mincey little social media productions - walking around in his teal Gucci suits, driving his stupid Cybertruck around, spraying himself with cheap cologne - this isn't that much different.
Why does this need a production of any sort? Yeah man, we know it's going to be tough for you - nobody needs reminding. I guess this just doesn't seem to fit the whole persona and narrative Jakob appeared to manufacture for himself when he was jabbing at Kerr for his proo videos which was that he's the no frills, "runners runner" that is all business and no BS. This is frilly, kind of BS and isn't running business, it's social media promotion business.
Because it is cool AF. You are obviously not his audience and that is okay. At least he is not spruiking Uber Eats like Hocker.
"Nobody needs reminding" ...news flash: most Jakob fans are not dissecting his every bowel movement on Let's Run. He is sharing his story with the masses.
Also, for all we know, the videographer is probably a mate of Jakob's from Sandnes, pitching some cool ideas and looking for something to do while they are all sit around doing SFA at altitude for several hours a day.
Last year Jakob made an outrageous music video about bad ass Norwegian Olympians. So what?

Its so stupid that suddenly everything that isn't a gold is a failure in Jakobs case. Its not like Kerr (or Hocker) comes any better out of that comparison. How many meets has Kerr won the last years? Whats the head to head?
Jakob hasn't had any outdoor season this year yet he still have more wins than Kerr. Its just how it is.
I get being a fan of other runners etc but honestly I don’t get why people need to be disrespectfull against Jakob. It would suck for Kerr, Hocker or anyone else not to get the respect they deserved if they medaled at every championship, dominanted the Diamond league, set world records and had the season best over a multi year period.
Jakob has also raced quite frequently- in the Diamond League, indoors and also some cross country. Frequent racing keeps his name in the conversation.
His push the pace tactics, primarily in the 1500, keeps his name in the conversation.
His 5 world records and record attempts keep his name in the conversation
Agree with both of these comments. JI is the 21st century equivalent of Ron Clarke in several ways. He pushes the pace and isn’t afraid of defeat, races frequently (except of course this year), even if not at 100%. He has set the stage for the rush of sub 3:30s, just like Clarke raised standards for the 5000 and 10000 (first runner under 28 min.).
With one important difference: Clarke didn´t have Jakob medal harvest.
Because Kerr wouldn’t be able to hang -the real difference between them is probably 10 +/- sec.
Some of you live in odd little fantasy locations. Both of you do actually. Objectiveobserver is often praising Jakob in a bizarre manner also.
My assumption is based on what I think would happen if Kerr f.x switched place with Aregawi in a race like the Silesia WR race, and the distance was 2 mile instead of 3000m. -Kerr would then get very little draft because of too hot pace for him (but of course more than Jakob). And I also think Jakob now could run faster than 7.54. So I think the real gap between them is closer to 10 sec, and not only 6.5. (And no disadvantage running indoors in such a long distance as the 2 mile, IMO).
The only thing that could screw my reasoning I think is if Kerr has improved since his indoor 2 mile WR. And that we of course don’t know for sure…

A little short film where he talks about playing the hand you’re dealt. Definitely gives the impression he’s planning to go all-in on both the 1500m and the 5000m.
Looking forward to people trying to tell me he’s still the best 1500m runner in the world after he loses his 4th straight global championship.
OK, who is better?
Which current runner has won more global 1500s than him?
None, that's who.
Duh.
Ingebrigtsen 2021, Wightman 2022, Kerr 2023, Hocker 2024 ... all exactly one win each.
The only difference is that Jakob has taken countless other WC, OG and DL wins (outdoor, indoor, and even XC), while these flukes have won NOTHING else of importance. NOTHING.
Jakob will never break the 3:26.00 world record, but he has shattered the letsrun record for most threads and posts about a runner who missed 5 months of the outdoor track season. I've never seen so many words about a runner who has raced so little. His words to meters raced ratio this season is bonkers.
He did win the indoor worlds in both 1500m and 3k ao at least he has showed up for all the championship races. And indoor mile WR in Lievin.
