Definitely the favorite for Worlds. Now lets see how he navigates the rounds
I have zero concern considering how well he ran in 2023 and 2024 despite a lack of fitness, once just from being young and the second time from being injured.
God it's like watching a piece of art. Such a beautiful runner.
I don’t understand how winning a bunch of paced diamond leagues makes Laros the favorite. Wasn’t that Jakob’s MO the last three years? Some people never learn….
I agree he is the favorite. HOWEVER, the only thing he has yet to prove is that he can compete in a 3:27 race. If the WC is a 3:27 race, will Laros still be there with 100 to go, and if he is, will he have the same kind of finish as he did today? He very well might, but in my view it's the only chance the field has against him so someone is going to have to take the pace on in Tokyo.
People said the same about Hocker. Remember his PB was 3:30.59 before the OG…and he won in 3:27.65.
Laros is a medal contender in any race, even a 3:27.xx one.
Laros’ PB moving into the WC is now 3:29.20…much faster than Hocker’s was before the OG. Don’t be surprised if Laros wins the WC in a massive personal best.
That’s because he’s doping, like most other americans
Laros is the clear favorite: no one is going to run away from him anymore, unlikely anyone outkicks him with what we've seen now in the last 3 races
There's going to be a lot of looking around surely, so Laros' biggest weakness will be positioning/staying on his feet in a bunched group, but going through the gears with 300 to go he looks like a stallion at this point
Who's going to make it a 3:27 race and sacrifice their chances by leading? After Paris, I doubt Jakob will.
No one. I think you see a wind up from 600m, maybe they get close to 3:30 but thats probably in doubt depending on JI form/confidence.
I think Kerr and Hocker played this pretty smart this year with this season doing the 5000m races late, thats my top 3 right there:
Laros, Kerr, Hocker.
Kerr will have the stones and have the confidence in his strength to take it early, like he did against JI in Eugene, and will think he needs to use that strength to push vs Laros/Hocker, theyll cover/shadow, Laros outkicks Kerr.
I dont think anyone is going to leave the inside open for Hocker again this year even if he is closing like a truck
I feel very happy knowing that I was on this train wayyy before everybody else. But also a little disappointed now that I'm not the only one on the train
The only way he gets beat is if, by some miracle, someone can stretch it out from the gun and run 3.26.
No one will live with that kick otherwise
As someone who knows way more about this than you, I would just advise you that a 3:26 is not the only way to best Laros. It is odd that you cannot grasp this. Laros looks good right now, but the medals aren’t being handed out now. There are way too many good runners and way too many scenarios that could play out in which Laros could lose, and you and apparently Rojo, are prisoners of the moment. Well the moment passes and the new moment arrives. There are a handful of contenders to the throne. Laros has won August. September awaits.
