13:13 is national class in all but like the top 10 distance running powerhouse countries in the world. It is a time that feels bad to call sub elite, but it isn’t necessarily elite. Very very good time, especially for a guy who isn’t a full on runner
I think we're all just so jaded by how fast everyone is running these days we're losing our capacity for amazement imho. 13:13 for a guy who spends a very significant amount of his available training hours cycling and swimming? Insane.
Historically, there has been a huge doping problem in Norwegian cross country skiers. It was only a matter of time before the good stuff up there moved into athletics.
I don't disagree. It's also the shortest time spent during the race but there are definitely some outliers. LCB should've made the Olympics @ 1500 if GB would've taken her. Plenty of examples like that. Adam Peaty did his 1st tri over the weekend (T100 London Oly) & 5 AGers swam faster. I have no clue what kind of shape he's in these days but, honestly, it doesn't matter I would still frame that result.
Would have to think he's more than capable of his 13:14 lifetime PB
especially after finishing 4th behind some really good guys and ahead of Teare who has a 12:54 pb and that was a very good race that played to Teare's strengths
Except that Teare is so inconsistent. If Teare had been 12:54 shape in the recent trials he would have qualified for Tokyo.
It's a bit strange that 90% of the field had a PB. Races were probably started from the wrong line.
Is this true? If so, that is more than a bit strange, unless many of these athletes were running one of their first few 5000s on the track.
IFAM in Belgium Oordegem is a place where many good runners can go to try to better their PB in the HIGH SEASON.
By the way: There were runners from all over the world: Apart from Justyn Knight - who has already been mentioned in another thread - Grijalva, Cornelius Kemboi, Oscar Chelimo, Wildschutt, Amen Kemboi, Olin Hacker, Knebelbaard, Sam Parsons an many more African, Australian, Japanese and South American runners.
Yee’s time is #3 in the UK this year. Last year in the Olympic year it would have been #7. He’s clearly competitive at the national level, in his secondary sport. Pretty incredible.
Imagine if he qualified for the UK Olympic team in the 5 or 10 and Tri? That would be something!
And Yee qualifying isn´t unlikely at all considering the lack of depth in British long distance running at the moment (see Kerr´s easy win in the national 5000m recently).

That is just a complete lie. It has been discussed many times on these pages after other insubstantial accusations.
Yee's 13:13.80 is faster than 1984 Olympic marathon champ Carlos Lopes, who has a 13:16.38 best, as well as 27:17.48 and 2:07:12. Lopes also won World Cross in an era when there was only the 12km long race with all Monsters from 1500 to marathon participating.
One can posit that Lopes teleported to this era, with Super boing boing shoes, bicarbs etc might have been a 13:00/27:00/2:03:00 monster.

I can't imagine that he wouldn't have been under 13:00 and 27:00.
Between this run, Hayden Wilde’s 27:39 road 10k earlier this year, and Morgan Pearson’s 61:01 half marathon, I don’t know what is the most impressive standalone run performance from a triathlete.
Perhaps Webb’s 3:46 mile still remains the best run result by a triathlete though ;)
Webb wasn't a triathlete during his 3:46 days. He had not even started yet.
And for us tri geek fans, Yee is so far from Blummenfelt, talent-wise. Yee, has never crossed over distances and beat the best at all distances in the same season, which is the litmus test for triathlon GOAT. Yee hasn't touched anything long. Blum won Olympic gold and IM world champs in less than a year, beating specialists at both distances. Unreal and unmatched cross-over ability in men's triathlon. Yee will get destroyed on the bike if he ever goes up to non-drafting.

Happened in 2000 Sydney Olympics. Carol Montgomery of Canada made triathlon and 10,000 on the track... I think she got injured in the tri and had to scratch the 10k. Great double though. Yee could do this double. 10k prolly better for him. He would get smoked in a tactical 5k with a 53 second last 400 burn-up
