I'm watching the BBC broadcast. What are they showing on regular DL broadcast.
I'm not liking the BBC shots. They keep showing these random Brits in the crowd. I know there aer 60,000 of them but they aren't doing anything so it makes the meet look boring. Interview Wanyonyi or the British 800 guy. Do something but show bored fans in the stands for the last 5 minutes.
The atmosphere despite 60k fans is worse than a smaller stadium in eruope - no?

Wanyonyi is unbeatable, the wr is no joke, Brazier is getting better and better and will be a medal threat by Sept.
I can't count Arop out just yet - there's time to fine tune!
Arop ran a great race and look like he had it, but no. Still many weeks to worlds but it just seems Wanyonyi has something extra that can't be matched. He has too much of a margin of error.
Brazier ran faster today than the PRs of Jonah Koech (1:43.32) and Brandon Miller (1:43.52) but does anyone else believe Miller is ready for a big one atUSAs after his recent 3:35 1500 pb.
As a former coach, I will say I find it BIZARRE that Miller will enter USAs with only 1 outdoor 800 race on his CV this year. He PRd in Rabat on May 25th and hasn't run an 800 since.

Agreed on Miller, but he should be able to sharpen up through prelims and semis pretty well. Hoey is the favorite and feeling good about Hoppel for 2nd. Going to be a very tight for 3rd between Brazier, Miller, and Koech. I could see one of them running 1:42 and being left off the team.

It all seems so tenuous with Brazier, but if he really can stay healthy through the rounds he's got it. Even at 28, there's a talent gap and an experience gap. Things will proceed accordingly with Hoey winning and Brazier/Hoppel taking the other spots. By worlds, Brazier will be the best of the group.
Rojo, the cameraman is not randomly scanning crowd for Brit’s, he’s hunting for loved up couples living in sin, looking for a repeat of the Coldplay incident

Can't imagine Brazier beating Hoey at worlds. Hoey just beat every contender in the 800 except for Wanyoni at Monacco, despite a massive deceleration from traffic around 200 in.

Speaking of Koech, where is he? I haven't had the time to listen to this week's podcast yet.
As for Miller, yes I feel that he is ready for something big (1500 PR right now is GREAT news), but Hoey's meteoric rise + Brazier's return means that I think he gets the short end of the stick this year - and that's not even mentioning Koech, or any other collegians / sub-elites that might be spoilers.
Then again, the only reason that I can imagine for Miller not having run any 800s since Rabat is that he's been injured and hasn't been able to do any speed work, which is obviously far from ideal.

Most the 5, all of the last mile. Couple cutaways to the pole vault. No random Brits in the crowd.
Slow 5000. Would have been nice to have Hassan in this race.
Back in the day, a 14:31 would have been SPEEDING. How far things have come. It's still so fast in my mind - but maybe that's just because US women haven't been true global contenders in the event in a... very long time.
