I'll just assume that you don't live here. Desert temps are not like the rest of the country. You can't go based solely on numbers. 80s here is not like 80s elsewhere.
Oh please. I’ve been to AZ. Sorry but 80’s is 80’s. “Oh but it’s DRY!!” If you’re referring to humidity there plenty of states that don’t have humid weather but are still hot. NOT conducive to training. My friend lives in AZ and no one goes out after 7am.
I lived in Tucson for 5 years. One child a UA alum. Know the area Very Well. Great hiking and biking. Running, not so much, at least for about 6-7 months, April-October. Spouse and I routinely took to running at 5 AM, to have any chance at comfort. Then during the two very hottest months, June-July, pre-monsoon, even that was impossible (hello Treadmill, ugh). But winters are quite delightful, and otherwise Tucson is great, with a wonderful extensive paved trail network !

Relatively old, definitely slow, but still putting in the miles
I have a friend, also in his late 60s (like me), who lives in AZ. Former Ohio state high school XC champ. He still runs and told me that if the temperature is over 118, he stays in!
