Yeah sure, but only 1 gold in there and off the podium in 2022, so it doesn't always work out perfectly and there is room for failure. And past performances is not an indication of future performance.
I dunno, man. A guy who has shown for four years running that he's at his very best in the most important race of the year is a pretty good indicator that he knows what he's doing. The harsh fact is, an athlete can be at their very best, but someone might just be a little better on the day. The margins are tight at the elite level
Yes agreed, and that's what I'm saying. We can't always be saying "don't pay attention to this performance, they are peaking for later" when there are no guarantees. Kerr was at his career best last year and walked away with a silver medal. Still awesome, but not a gold.
What happens in season matters. For example, Kerr's build up last year had some critical performance indicators for success: Indoor 2 mile World Best, World Indoors Gold, Pre Classic win over Jakob, and then into a big training block and no races except for UK Champs 800m.
This year, he didn't run indoors, got smoked in a couple of GST races, and won a couple. Now London Diamond league is coming up, and I think it will serve as a really important performance indicator for the rest of Kerr's season. He will want to set a high benchmark here to show he will be there at the front in September. If he wins in London over the likes of Koech and Myers, I think Kerr will become a pretty strong favourite for Worlds. If he falls short in London, especially by a decent margin, I don't think we can keep saying "don't worry, he is peaking for later". It will raise some big concerns.

- He says at the end of the video that he feels he is in PB-type 1500m shape
- London should be good!
Otherwise known as 8 x 400 @ world record pace w/ some rest in between if you round up/down a bit. You need make friends with the Devil step by step before becoming BFF's. Kerr is moving in the right direction and should be ready to go in September.
It's not rocket science! Just stay healthy.
Ummmmmm you do know my first love Hicham EL Kingdom Triple Love Guerrouj was running 20x400 in 53-54s WITH 30 SECONDS REST RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 1500m altitude in Ifrane Morocco right?????????????????????????????
In TERRIBLE SHOES AND TERRIBLE TRACK SURFACES AND ZERO COROS WATCHES RIGHT?????????????????????????????????????????
You know all that right?????????????????????????
And he only ran 3:26:00.
My boy Josh Kerr is only running 400 x 8 with obscene amounts of rest and only 55.7s average right??????????????????????????????????????????? With supershoes and tracks right sir???????????????????????????
And he is only running 3:27 and only 1 time in his life right??????????????????????
Can you see now how superior my first love El Kingdom is sir??????????????
You folks are simply low on IQ or whatever I don't know seriously but you should be prostrating on your knees and worshipping the true KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason why Kerr is still running strong at 27 and poses no suggestion whatsoever that he is on drugs is because of his efficient and conservative biomechanics. His body understands the laws of physics because maybe it's naturally gifted and/or he took good care of it through good nutrition and ensured good discipline and moral ethos as well. How is he still running a 3:44 mile while Nuguse has gone backwards from 3:43 to 3:45 2 seconds slower from 2023 to 2025??????????????????????
Nuguse is 'well-trained', 'well-doped' or otherwise and he had 2 years worth of training under his belt but yet he faltered at Prefontaine classic you feelin me?????????????
We should be seeing a 3:41 from Nuguse after 2 years worth of training from 2023 to 2025 ain't it sir?????????????? He has all the 'tech gadgets', the massages, the nutrition, the double thresholds, the 'SCIENCE', BUT YET HIM AND JAKOB HAS FALTERED AND GONE BACKWARDS FROM 2023 TO 2025, mostly ostensibly failing to run 3:25 and 3:42 at least for the mile and 1500m respectively!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was why Hicham El Kingdom Triple Love Guerrouj was incensed earlier this year that current generation of runners training and performing like a wussies you feelin me?????
In his time El Kingdom was running 20x400 in 53-54 seconds with only 30 seconds rest can you believe it sir?????????????????? He had no shoes and no tracks too just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he ran 3:26:00.
Guys like Kerr only running like what? 8 reps????????????????? 90 seconds rest seriously?????????????? With magic shoes and magic tracks??????? It's an embarrassment to the status of our sport that male athletes of the current generation are shockingly frail and collapsible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boooooooooooooooo, Hicham El Kingdom still da best YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
75 more years folks, mark my words, Hicham himself knows it, the record will last an eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PRECISELY PRECISELY SIR, I'M LIKE WHAT DA HECK?????????????????????????
It's like Hicham El Kingdom Triple Love Guerrouj was taking only, listen to this, 30 SECONDS REST for running between 53-54 seconds for every lap of a 20x400m workout!!!!!!!!!!! This was well documented by a Mexican long distance runner-coach back in the 90s and posted all over runnersworld magazine back then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was also surprised earlier when I saw 90 seconds because I'm like there ain't no way man, it's extremely luxurious, it's cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maximum 60seconds rest, no more, in fact for WR caliber, 45 seconds will do, and at high tempo at WR pace, meaning 55.000 seconds or under but Kerr only average 55.7s and only 8 reps????????????? And the 8 reps were also broken up into 2 sets with 4-5minutes rest in between????????????????????????? This is a seriously a testimony to how WEAK AF our modern generation of male athletes are, not fit to be real men goodness gracious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously folks, our sport needs to buck up man, especially our male athletes, with them totting 5G phones and swiping instagram apps left and right and bathing themselves in more electronic devices and their RF it will be the death knell on our sport's DNA, specifically Hicham's DNA----------THE MODEL DNA FOR ALL ATHLETES TO FOLLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT'S ALSO FITTING THAT HE IS EXTREMELY PIOUS M-U-S-L-I-M!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems there is a correlation between spiritual piety and extreme feats of human performance. History’s otherworldly athletes seems to be coming from either Islam or Christianity. We as a nation need to investigate this correlation. If confirmed it means God is involved and indispensable.
El G was running 3:26 fortnightly and 3:29s weekly without the shoes but kerr runs 3:27 once in 10 years. Looking at the training for both it does make sense as to be able to handle 3:26s so regularly in a single month you basically need to train huge reps with low rest and el g did 20x400 at 53-54 on average. Perhaps some of those reps were 52 and some 55 since it’s an average. Kerr training with low reps and high rest does t support weekly 3:27s racing and he has to rely on the adrenaline of the moment at the olympics and emotions to run a 3:27 and after that he is tired by that effort. Not so for El g whose system is geared towards weekly 3:27s with little exhaustion.
that’s why el g was THE king. He trained like it and the rest like Kerr and Jakob training like paupers.
it will make a difference if the 90 seconds is at the exact start of the repeat, where he has about 10 seconds to jog into place and go.
i used to do 200 m repeats with jog across the track recovery which was like 120m in 60 seconds. which was very different from 90 seconds. 30 seconds recovery is hard on a person, and its very sharpening, or over do it and you won't race well.
if you're doing high octane intervals, error on the side of safety and do 20% less than you're capable of. this is very dangerous stuff.
My 400 repeats for 5k take only 1min rest for total of 12 reps it shouldn’t be different for 1500m. The cut off is a minute else you can just be an amateur and run for fun. Even Canova’s canonical fartleks has the rest equal to the running time. If it’s 4min of hard running it’s no more than 4min rest but Kerr runs like 55 seconds and gets 90 seconds rest WTF? He should only be getting 55 seconds rest and if he needs more he can go join the grandpa’s mass race instead.
Did he also just join the sport from the amateur ranks and require so much rest? No.
I think people run mile/1500 workouts too hard in practice...
He was clear in the video that this was an unusual 100% effort workout to replace the 1500/800 double of the LA Grand Slam that didn't happen.
As for the 57.9 last rep, he was also clear that he went over the line in the middle of the workout and pushed slightly too hard.
So his 100% going to the well effort requires 90 seconds rest per rep and 4minutes rest between sets with super shoes? That must be one gaping well hole. I was thinking more like 9 seconds rest between reps and 90 seconds between sets. If this is supposed to be world record caliber then El G will drop the hammer on kerr’s head. He is an insult to our great Moroccan tradition. That was an immodest YouTube episode. Maybe laros can do better I hope

Far off still, make is 75x75 years, we would have colonized Mars by then. With Jakob out, Nuguse out, Hocker dusted, Laros also going to follow in the footsteps of the first 3 and flame out, all that’s left is 1 man standing on high atop the Mount of Olives carrying a golden spear. ELG…

I font know why anyone is still stoked for Kerr.
EXACTLY SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your IQ and circumspection!!!!! LRCers have a great lack of these 2 qualities when it comes to the space-time of this sport!!!!!!
Hicham was known for doing fartleks in the off season to train VO2 max, he would do 6,5,4,3,2,1,2,3,4,5,6, meaning 6min on 6min off, 5 min on 5min off and so on and so forth. The rest was not more than the actual high intensity period so it looks very bad on Danny Mackey and Kerr. I wonder what will my love Hicham be thinking if he saw this workout video and its details you feelin me??????
If it was Hicham from the 90s, he would have smoked the last rep in Kerr's workout in 47.9 at altitude because it would have been too easy for him right????????
- He says at the end of the video that he feels he is in PB-type 1500m shape
- London should be good!
This workout was underwhelming for somebody on supershoes. I thought supershoes allows faster recovery, faster speeds and high reps? If El g was to run 20 reps at half a min rest and 54s should we be seeing him run 21 reps at the least at 25 seconds rest and 53s?
If you wanna run the WR which is 54.97 average you need to average faster than that. El g average around 53 mid for his 20 reps and he ran 54.97 in an actual race which just goes to show he was right that based on his 53mid training he could have ran much faster than 3:26, 3:23 that is, he was right because his training showed 3 seconds faster was possible with so many reps and incredibly short rest. He was just ill on that day when he ran 3:26:00 or else............ Now shame on those who doubted his words. He didn't have the supershoes too so add that into the conversation and that's another 3 seconds which would put it beyond the millennium, 3:20.
