Are you serious? Do you realize how much money she can make if she's on?
That was horrible. Bobby had better turn it around in the next month or she may be looking for a new coach.
She said she loves running. That's the key.
NO, she NEVER said she loves running. Your reading comprehension of that recent article is very bad. She said that she wanted to rediscover a love for running, NOT that she had ALREADY rediscovered the love for running.
You invented the whole "she said she loves running" in your own mind because you were hoping that it was true. Please learn how to read better.
Perhaps....
Up top. She said what you are talking about.
But I think most importantly this year, it’s just me regaining my joy back and finding my love for the sport. And if it’s not love, just appreciation for the sport and the places that I get to take me, and it’s just all that I get to do with it.
So that makes it sound like she doesn't love it but is trying to at least appreciate what it does for her. But later on she, said this:
But for me, it wasn’t too bad. I think mentally was the biggest thing for me, just because a lot of the joy comes with like running, and so not being able to compete kind of takes away, and a lot takes me a step back from just my normal environment,
US nationals are less than a month away and she doesn't have a buy to Worlds. I'm not ruling out her making the team. If she didn't run in lane 2 and jjust give up the last 100 she probably could have run 2:01. Maybe 2:00. An 800 runner can easily improve 2 seconds in a week or two if they are unsure of themselves, just by ripping some hard reps.

Maybe true, but this race was painful to watch. For Bobby: what is the race plan? She is a proven frontrunner, it is crazy a 49s 400m woman is running last early on in a crowded DL field. Yes going out too fast is a problem, but this race was not that.
Why do we want yet another amazing talent to go run for psycho Kersee?
You mean the psycho coach who helped Sydney get 6 world records?
Yeah, the psycho coach who thought it was a good idea for her to skip the World Championships, and the same one who has wrecked both Mu and SML in the 400m. SML looked awful in the 400m today, will never break 48.5. I doubt Mu can even break 53 at this point.
The 800m is ever so slightly more aerobic then anaerobic. Still requires some volume. There are outliers but Bobby seems to be effective as a sprint coach. She needs a distance coach and perhaps focus. Maybe. Maybe she has trained at very low volumes with a lot of quality. That’s not going work. This has been known for 70-plus years back to when Lydiard shocked the world with a distance based Peter Snell winning gold two Olympics in a row. Mind you he was an exception but did develop the aerobic engine first by going 80-100 miles per week.
I agree in theory but think the opposite has happened here.
She's so talented and has enough natural endurance, or at least she did in 2021, I think she could do sprint work with the most minimal of distance work and easily break 2:00.
There are 4 options here.
1) She's been injured (Seems unlikely as she's been racing)
2) Kersee has no clue about the 800.
3) Her hearts isn't it/mental block.
4) Her body matured late and she peaked at 19. Normally the body changes happen early (17 for Mary Cain for example)
Wouldn't be surprised if that's it for her and she just retires.

THe thing with the 800 is you normally need A LOT of reps. 1500 fitness and 800 sharpness are not the same. I can't believe i picked her to win this on the podcast.

sensible
except Mu is not right in her mindset and half trained
coaches are fired after this kind of thing
right or wrong, you need to move in a new direction
you want a fun coach,
i think Andre Agassi would be a god sent at this point in time.
psychologically.
running is a pretty good gig.
Andre would fix the brain here, he's been there did it done it.

Sydney was injured. That's why she didn't compete in the 2023 World Championships. It had nothing to do with Kersee having a "good idea". Once again, Sydney was injured. Get that through your thick head.
That was pathetic. Mu didn't even trust herself to run normally at the break. Kersee has her so paranoid of running in traffic she backed off to last place.
Not that it would have changed the outcome for her. But once I saw that move I knew she's an 800 meter headcase right now.
Sad to witness. You seldom see a prodigy of that extreme fall to depths like this.
It got so bad for Leigh Diffey with Mu not a factor he actually had to call other names. I guess to his credit he was able to identify 2 out of 3 coming down the stretch. He had no clue who Prudence Sekgodiso was so he totally ignored her running stride for stride with Duguma and instead tried to pretend Nakaayi was a factor several meters back.
I was down voted in another thread as picking her time as 2:01. Seems I was being generous. Never looked good. Not in shape. At one stage running in lane 3. Hugely talented but need something? Time off? New coach? Change of career?

She has the yips or whatever the track equivalent is. This is why Kersee's "minor league rehab" never made sense. When an MLB pitcher goes to the minors to pitch, they don't look for game results or even batted ball results. They look for velocity, movement, and location; they might even throw all sliders one inning to make sure it "feels" right. Mu wasn't asked to demonstrate any process skills in her "rehab" races besides lining up to start the race.
If you take Tarik Skubal and tell them to dominate AA talent for 3 starts then throw him against the Dodgers his first time in the majors, he's gonna get lit up just like Athing got lit up. Go actually solve the yips and make her run in a pack and maybe we get a better result than today.
Time off, lol... good point I think. I was thinking she might be training too hard or in a unproductive fashion. But maybe she's not training much at all and can run 2:03 on talent alone. As an aside. What does she make from her Nike deal? How many years left in her contract? Do Nike have an opt out?
Why is an athlete with a sub-50 400 fooling around with events longer than 800? She's one of the greatest talents ever in this country (if not the greatest). Kersee should be brought up on charges.
There's a big difference in how Keesee treats Mu compared to McLaughlin.
He would never allow McLaughlin to start a race if she wasn't in top form. He's withdrawn her numerous times. McLaughlin has also been able to train with other sprinters and hurdlers in his group in the past. Mu has not, and trains by herself.
Mu seems to be a mad experiment for Kersee, whereas McLaughlin is his passion..
Not surprising for Mu. She to young and talented to be done but her mind isn’t right. They screwed her up by wanting her to run the 1500 and for what? Lol. She was great at 400 and 800. Should of stayed what she was good at
