I am someone who believes that it is unfair for trans women to compete against cis women in sports. They very clearly have an unfair advantage which is why, when polled a MAJORITY of people agree they shouldn’t be allowed.
With that being said, my generous opinion on Riley Gaines was that she’s approaching her “advocacy” the wrong way. My honest opinion is that she’s an embarrassing bully.
I feel like this issue first hit national news in 2018-2020 with the trans high school sprinters in Connecticut. A few of their cis competitors spoke about about them competing. Those girls, even though they were younger than Riley, were careful and composed in their messaging, making sure their issue was not personal, but rather with CT’s ridiculous policy that you can identify as a girl without any sort of material proof, and compete with girls.
But when you see Riley, searching across the country to places she’s never been to attack literal KIDS she’s never met, it’s ugly. It’s disgusting. It’s a turn off. know the policy is unfair but watching grown adults do this over something that’s not a life or death issue is crazy to me.
Talk about individual state policies. Don’t repost pictures of high school kids you don’t know. I don’t agree with Simone here, and for what it’s worth I thought her tweets were below the belt too, but I get the urge to confront a total bully with their own medicine. And like I said, I don’t agree with Simone but I’m choosing to respect her opinion because she’s a world class female athlete with skin in the game herself. I’m not going to say she doesn’t know what she’s talking about because clearly she does.
Riley then attacked Simone reposting pictures of her serial s**ual abuser and that’s when I really had to roll my eyes. Whatever you think about trans girls playing sports, comparing them to satan himself is absurd, and shows how far down the rabbit hole Riley is.
Anyways TLDR if you really want to “save women’s sports” stop with the bullying tactics. Focus on state and governing policies. You look horrible when you attack young kids, no matter how right you think you are. And keep it in perspective. Trans women competing against cis women is unfair, but it doesn’t make trans girls and women who do it akin to the worst of humanity. Get a grip.
