All this speculation about Jakob running the 5000m, however, the Dream Mile is also scheduled for Oslo, and it's just as likely that Jakob would have run that. I don't remember seeing anything officially saying he was running the 5000m...
Steinar Hoen did a long interview in Breaking Marathon Limits about Bislett and told the story about how Kejelcha reached out in january and said that he is going for the WR in Oslo. They have worked with Kejelcha to choose pacers to go for the record (the second pacer will run for 3500m). Kejelcha will be leading thereafter. Aregawi also wanted to run and then he mentions that Jakob is injured and therefore wont be running in the race, but having him run the 5000m at Bislett is a dream they have.
He also mentioned that for 5000m for men, pretty much all the best runners have realized that Bislett is the place to break the WR. It is due to the temperature, air (humidity) and the track. The track is perfect for 5000m, but not for 1500m (he says that he agrees with Jakob in that respect). You need higher humidity, higher temperature and a harder track to run really fast for 1500m.

Thanks, very interesting. Great that Kejelcha has the confidence to go for this. Surprised Aregawi isn't jumping onto this too given he has a good chance of hanging on for the last lap burn up.
I think you guys are arguing a bit all over the place. Look at the field Jakob was beating in Paris: Kwemoi - Not as fast as Jakob, nor as strong Fisher - As strong as Jakob, not as fast Lobalu - Not as fast as Jakob, nor as strong Gebrhiwet - As strong as Jakob, not as fast (which is why he is panicking and sprinting too early) Aregawi (indoors) - As strong as Jakob, not as fast Kejelcha - As strong as Jakob, not as fast
Amongst his 5,000m competition, Jakob holds the speed advantage against basically all of them. This could change IF Hocker were to make a 5,000m final. Ditto Nuguse/Kerr were they to attempt the double. Barega is one of the fastest 5,000m guys, running low 3:30s and winning World Indoors 3K. But you saw what happened as soon as Kerr/Nuguse entered the fray and dropped sub-26 for the last 200 of a slow race.
I think we all are confused on what kicking even is. I don’t care to argue more. When Jakob runs sub 12:35 none of this will matter.
The only ones who are confused are those who can't see when Ingebrigtsen is outkicked.
Jakob should try breaking his competitors and win in his main event first
I'm sure that he will change his plans/meet schedule and perhaps even his training to accomodate the ideas of an anonymous poster...
The aren't the ideas of an "anonymous poster"; the shorter event is Ingebrigtsen's main event that he races far more often than the 5k - of which he has run very few races over his career.
I'm excited folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for this!!!!!!!
You know something folks??????
All of us here, this entire board knows for a fact that the Ethiopian distance runners are the cleanest athletes walking the earth right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They run as if they are from the Garden of Eden, with pure natural resonance of cerebral ecstasy and spiritual enlightenment you feelin me????????????????
Aregawi, Kejelcha, Gebrhiwet, these are pure breed energy shamans from another civilization, the untouched civilization akin to the purest form of MIND EXISTENCE------THE GARDEN OF EDEN devoid of anthropogenic RF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They don't call Ethiopia the land of THE ORIGIN or the birthplace of Christianity for nothing alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to see the 5 and 10k world records returning to my Great CHRISTIAN Ethiopia once again!!!!!!!!!!
Agree man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had Fisher been in the race he would have doped it up and make a mess of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a bioresonance machine at home and I swear his dirty bio-field replete with drugs is going to degrade the spanking clean biofields of the pure breed energy shamans Kejelcha, Aregawi and Gebrhiwet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand why Jakob is not in his home 5000m event?????????????????
It's a no-brainer man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is he doing with his life I'm asking everyone please answer me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is he delaying any more time in trying to get the 5000m WR??????????? He seems to be very very very inane to not ASAP give it a shot already in 2023 but this is 2025!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand he isn't a 5k/10k combo dude but still with the all-conquering and all-boasting athlete that he is, and his ability to turnover races and handle a packed racing calender very well, it's an absolute no-brainer he isn't already finished at least 1 WR attempt in the last 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You simply have no idea what you are talking about. Any one of those guys can run as fast as Ingebrigtsen in the last 200m. The reason why they cannot in a 5000m is because he has superior strength. The margins of victories other than Budapest show this superior strength.

Jacob's training for the 1500 makes him the perfect 5000 runner
Jacob is also a bit stronger than all of them based on his 3000 WR, Aregawi is close however, he closed in 59 vs Jacob 55, which means of course his tank was low at the ball...

So the perfect training for the 5k is to train for another distance? That might explain why Jakob has only once gone under 13 mins.

Yes, that might explain it, for an ignorant person like you.

In an all-out 3,000 sure. But the question is about a tactical 5,000, where the limiting factor for these guys is often how fast they can run the last lap, not a question of their PBs in an all-out 3,000. Jakob can drop sub-26.5 last 200s off of these slow paces and a 27pt first 200 on the last lap whereas his rivals in the 5,000 simply can't maintain and then up the tempo like him.
