I know this is a troll thread (and one of the best in a while), but it does raise the question of are there basic things you can't do but other people can? And if so, what?
It seems like the things (listed below) that used to be normal, are now getting less and less common among Gen Z people.
Because I am old (went to college in the 1990s), we had to do everything IRL because our teachers didn't know that computers were going to replace thinking in the coming 20 years. They thought we would need this stuff like our ancestors did:
- We didn't have spell check, so we had to learn to spell.
- We didn't type and text everything, so you had to have some basic handwriting skills.
- We didn't have AI, so we had to learn how to write papers without just plagiarizing the whole thing.
- We did have pocket calculators on us 24/7, so we had to learn arithmetic.
- We didn't have contact lists, so we memorized everyone's phone numbers.
- We didn't have GPS, so we had to remember where everything was located and find our way around by thinking about where we were relative to the rest of the city.
- We didn't have apps for hook-ups, so if you wanted to get laid, it was best to talk to girls and have a girlfriend.
- We didn't have ÜberEats or DoorDash so we just learned how to cook.
- We didn't have cell phones, so when we made plans, we just had to trust the other person would be there (and we had to be there too).
- We didn't have phones, so when we were bored we just talked to people in person who were around us, in the dorm with us, or in the same dining hall.
