Per Hall’s post-college pro career, I’m curious what drove the ASICS+ training group (Kastor, Meb, Hall, etc., with Mahon) to train out of Mammoth instead of Big Bear?
There is currently no evidence of this actually being true. No evidence for even PART of this to be true.
While Brosnan or Skechers may have not have contacted you directly with evidence or to this platform, reputable sources such as agents, running industry professionals, and athletes suggest a different perspective. The new Skechers group is indeed promising, drawing parallels to the launch of Puma Elite. Pro running groups are not flashy as those in the NFL draft, but the industry buzz and athlete signings will gradually reveal the authenticity of this venture. Additionally, the decision-making processes of individuals like Sean Brosnan relocating to Big Bear was not for the hell of it. Just my thoughts from people who actually work in running.

I wanted to share some information with you about Mammoth. The marathon training is there because takes place on roads, and there's a long dirt road behind the track that goes on for miles, but it's quite rocky. If you watch videos of Mammoth, you'll see that it's quite far from the nearest airport and the cost of living is high due to being far from civilization. Most videos show runners on the roads, and there's usually more snow compared to Big Bear, which can pose a problem for runners to train
they had better hire some designers quick. they literally make one pair of elite hobby jogging trainers. and since it takes two years for a design to come to market...
These are every bit as good as your Brooks or Saucony joggers, pal.
Let’s pump the breaks a bit on the Brosnan is starting a pro group hype train.
a) he isn’t starting anything as the BBTC has been around for a while. Sounds like he is joining their coaching team.
b) there are no pros. BBTC mainly does coaching for kids. While they had Martinez and Berian a years ago, i don’t see any more evidence a pro or any significant names have joined BBTC or are being coached by Brosnan.
This is just another pre-announcement like the ones we’ve been hearing for a couple of years now. “Something big is coming!”
Handler obviously had success with Brenda and Berian, but the athletes he has coached seem to agree that he is a very good coach for High School athletes. He doesn't look for top athletes and glom onto their names to take credit for their accomplishments, like some coaches do. He's intense and is known to get too frustrated at his athletes when they underachieve and at event directors when his athletes aren't placed in the right heats, but his disciplined approach makes a huge difference in turning average athletes into high performers. Brosnan is obviously a trade up compared to his previous partner, unless he's still involved also. Team Skechers will have some controversy around them, and it will be forgotten once they have some success, I'm sure.
Joe Vigil coached both Brenda and Berian... so many "coaches" always trying to take credit from an actual successful coach....

The Skechers team has nothing to do with Big Bear Track Club. That’s in the past and now it’s just a high school training thing. Two separate things completely. Sean Brosnan is coaching pro for Skechers not Big Bear Track Club

Bob Larsen was coaching Meb and Joe Vigil was coaching Deena in Mammoth, and they were collaborating on training philosophy. Hall and others basically came to Mammoth somewhat later to try to replicate Meb and Deena's success. Mahon only took over the group's coaching when Meb and Deena were starting to wind down their running careers.

Correct. Joe provided workouts.
Carlos was the main coach for Brenda and Boris right from the start. Joe didn't coach Boris at all, it was all Carlos. Boris has even mentioned in interviews that Carlos was his only coach. Just thought you should know the facts. In the beginning Carlos reached out to Joe for advice. Again Boris never even met Joe or did his workouts

If Skechers was serious about starting a pro team, it should be geared towards the marathon and they should hire someone like MEB, Desi Linden, Galen Rupp, Jordan Hasay, or Ryan and Sarah Hall to coach it.
There are 100x more customers for their shoes in the marathon than on the track. Starting a track team would cost more money than it would bring in with sales.

This entire thread is a big lie.
When it comes to running shoes, Marathon is doing great with fun runners and hobby joggers. But if we want to make a mark in a different league, we need to switch gears. Think about ON - they nailed it by getting high school kids to wear their running shoes and even sponsoring a pro track team. That's where the real game is! The marathon team market might be a bit bland for us, but targeting track mid-distance and distance teams is where we can truly shine.
