if you "identify" as a giraffe, are you a giraffe???

shhhhhhhhhh
you are supposed to pretend.
unlike the case with religions, this pretend game is not optional
People born male have physical advantages over females before puberty, which is enhanced greatly during puberty and is not mitigated by testosterone suppression. Thus, no matter what they call themselves, how they look or what they wear, they should compete in the men's category. If they compete in the women's category it is a violation of Title IX and women's rights. Sex at birth is immutable.

But in amateur sports, it’s not that deep. Why do you care so much about less than a percentage of the people who participating???
I agree. It’s not like the Olympics where we toe the line and go head to head. Bostons calculations for qualifying times in each age group would not be significantly affected by a handful of runners when tens of thousands of people send in qualifying times. I doubt the impact is even measurable.

The most annoying thing is that Niki claims to be trans yet competes in the biological category of birth rather than identity category.
She is always somehow conveniently a woman on race day but never any other day. Weird how that works.

Here's the thing. There absolutely has to be an avenue for trans women to compete. I think forcing them to compete and be counted as men is cruel in this circumstance. However, cis women shouldn't lose spots they previously had.
I don't have a solution that works but I'm thinking, trans women have their own category or increase the number of women who get to compete? IDK, I'm not a boston expert either.
Why would it be cruel for them to race against other men? Makes no sense

This had me thinking. I am someone who believes that it is unfair for trans women to compete against cis women. I am also someone for whom this issue is not something that keeps me up at night.
I wouldn't drop out just because there are trans women racing. At the same time, because this is the Boston marathon, aren't trans women taking away spots from cis women?
If this were another marathon I wouldn't care in the slightest.
I feel bad for a random unknown participant getting lit up by the running community on social media. Whether it's JK Rowling or Nikki, I don't like it when people with platforms do this to others.
On the other hand you have to remember that 80% of people agree that trans women have an unfair advantage in sports to cis women. Maybe don't push the many liberal folk who agree by saying stupid things like "men in women's category"? They are trans women. We don't have to call them men to acknowledge the lack of fairness.
Niki just mad bc Trump in Office and made her put woman on her passport. 🤣
I just wish radicals could read actual numbers and stats and science instead of endlessly inventing feelings based on false narratives.

Hiltz is terrible and wrong. And "trans women" are men. Obviously.
But conservatives need to realize that they can't win this battle until "transgenderism" is completely outlawed wholesale. That means, a prohibition on changing "sex" on government documents, a prohibition of prescription of "gender-affirming" drugs and surgery, banning compelled speech in workplace/govt settings ("affirming" pronouns, mandatory "pronouns in signature" etc), and (re)criminalization of "MtF" public crossdressing.

transgenderism might be 'wrong' but so is authoritarianism... if men want to pretend they are women that is fine however society should not be gaslit into believing they somehow have less rights than the rest of society because of how they choose to live their life and society certainly should not be on the hook for any of their associated medical procedures.

False equivalence. Gender is just a social construct. A specific species is not a social construct, it is a scientific reality.
Sex is a scientific reality but since the world should be decided by gender, not sex, for all non-medical categories and athlete should compete as their gender and not sex. No reason a male and female can't just compete head to head and let the best win.
What about this as a solution? 1- Eliminate all references to "gender" in athletics with respect to competition categories, as gender is not really the issue. Replace the word gender with sex (aka biological sex) when referencing competition categories. 2-Eliminate the male category and replace it with "Open" (open to all). In athletics, males do NOT need their own special category. Example: did you know that in USA pro sports the NBA, NFL MLB are not "male only" sports? Those sports are actually legally open to females too, yet there has never been a successful female in those leagues. The reason is because there has rarely, if ever been a female capable of playing successfully in those leagues. In most every sport, men do NOT need there own special category in order to maintain fairness, so lets eliminate the men's category! Sadly this won't happen, unless men step up and do it. 3- This change would leave 2 categories: a-Open and b- Female (aka biological female as universally defined in human biology). Under this scenario there is NO unfair discrimination. If a Transgender women (bio male) or those very rare DSD cases like Semenya (incorrectly "assigned" as female sex and girl gender at birth due to the absence of visible external male genitalia) want to compete as females, they can NOT. Because they are IN FACT not female. They compete in the open category. To me, this is the ONLY doable and reasonable solution I can think of.
she/they whatever is so tiring. forever the victim.

You mean, "radicals" like Jennifer Sey who claims trans athletes are the state leaders in HJ in three different states. (They are not.)
Or "radicals" like Melissa Batie Smoose who claimed that Blaire Fleming was hitting 80mph? (ESPN analyzed the videos and concluded Fleming never hit faster than 64mph.)
Or "radicals" like Payton McNabbb who claimed the concussion she suffered in a volleyball match ended her athletic career, and then played varsity softball next spring?
Yeah, their feelings seem to be more important than facts.
(BTW, I just got censored by X because I pointed out Sey's posting was incorrect. So much for the "free speech absolutist.")
Nikki being upset again this week is hardly news anymore.
She never seems to take disagreements like “a regular guy just being a dude.” Not sure why that is. Nikki is always female on race day, and always female when she presents an opinion as well. The short hair and occasional sticking out of the tongue are doing a ton of heavy lifting for her claim of being part-time masculine.

I adore Nikki.
Excellent video/response.
(I'll check back later to see if I get a new Downvote PR.)
142 and counting!!! You didn't let me down, LR!!!
There's so many idiotic posts over the last 2 pages, I don't even know where to begin. And the more idiotic they are, the more upvotes they have.
Anyway...so how did Mrs Transphobia do? Did she take Nikki's advice?

But they are men. Biologically, you cannot get away from that fact. No one is being transphobic or unsympathetic, it is the simple truth.
